I have a 2 year old PayPal account that I decided to use.

I recieved a payment from a client and the payment went on hold. PayPal said I need to build a seller history with them.

I recieved 2 new additional payments and they went straight to my balance. The first payment is still on hold.

Does anyone have any idea for how long PayPal will keep this first payment on hold? Usually how long does PayPal will hold the payment? It is just 21 days?

Thanks

If you call them you may get this sorted out. A call is >>>> than online ticket.

Mark the order as processed, wait 48 hours, have the buyer ‘confirm receipt’ on the transaction, and then, the funds will post to your available balance.

Few hours up to 21 days.
Paypal is doing their job, trying to stop scammers.
I know it sucks but, just wait.

I am selling virtual items and marked it as such so there is no option to mark it as proceessed anymore.

What are you selling?
Physical products?
No.
Virtual items.

It's either 21 or 30 days.
I am waiting on the 21 days. I hope so. No problem, my other payments are in my balance. This first one is the only one stuck on hold.

Weird that only the first payment went on hold then the next 2 went straight to my balance without any problems.

Yup, that's exactly how it needs to be.
At least, that's the case with me and people I know, first payment in most cases goes directly on hold for a security reasons.
I don't remember if I ever waited for 21 days, I think I did but it was more then $200+ and it was first payment, all rest, under $100 is up to 3 days.

Were you using an aged account or a new one for these payments?
Mine is 2 years old but these are the first payments ever on that account.

It is PayPals algorithim. Recive more and more Payments and let the Buyer confirm those Payments and after a few weeks your Account will either be banned or you will have a good pp account which can be used for business :-)

Hopefully, you will get your money soon. Once cleared, withdraw it quickly as leaving it there is risky

Let Me Give You My Experience With PayPal From The Receiving of The Money from The Client Till Bank Deposit

This happened to me recently, I sell Digital Products On My Website, My PayPal Account is Old But I receive My First Order in The Last Week of September, Client Orderd & Paid With PayPal - PayPal Does what it has to be done - They Hold My Payment for 7 Days I Cannot Get It. 7 days Holding Again After Withdrawl More 7 Days of Verification of Money, After Verification more 3 - 5 Days to Deposit into the bank Total - 21 Days Minimum

But to bypass these 21 Days I followed only Two simple steps.

Simple Steps To Get Your Money in The Bank WithIn 7 Days
1. After Order - Tell Your, Client, to Confirm in The PayPal - Tell your Client That Order Has Started, This will make the PayPal to Release the payment and that payment will go into the PayPal Balance Immediately.
2. Once In PayPal Balance - Go For The Withdrawal To Your Bank Account, After Withdrawal PayPal Takes 3 Days to Verify The Payment - After Three Days You Will Get An Email About Payment Confirmation, PayPal Will Write "You Have Requested The XXXXX Amount, It Has Been Accepted Your Amount Will be Deposit into The Bank in Next 3 to 4 Days" That's Total Max 7 Days

Hope This Will Help You

Thanks guys for the comments, they were helpful.

The on hold payment was on 26th September, assuming PayPal will hold my payment for 21 days, this means they will most likely release my funds on the 17th October. I will update the thread and let you know what happened. Hopefully my experience might help someone who might be in situation similar in the future.

Just a small update:

I recieved another payment today from a client. The payment this time went on hold like the first one. I thought moving forward, all payments will go to my balance but this is not the case.

I asked the client to confirm the payment.
