Hello I had to open a case because I received a defective item.

they sent this email 3-4days after me opening up a claim.

In order to continue with our investigation, we need documentation
supporting your claim that the item is damaged or significantly not as
described. Please obtain a document (such as an estimate or invoice) from
an unbiased third-party, such as a dealer, repair shop, appraiser, or
another individual or organization that is qualified in the area of the
item in question (other than you).

This document should detail the extent of the damage or clearly explain how
the item received significantly differs from the item advertised. Please do
not proceed with any repairs or alterations to the item, as doing so will
limit our ability to successfully resolve your claim, and may result in the
cancellation of your dispute.

So I sent them documentation and I am just waiting for a response. When they send this message is it a good thing?

I would provide what they are asking for and, if possible, some pictures of the object showing that it is definitely damaged/ defective not as described. The pictures are optional but they could be of great help.

What happened in your PayPal Case is that seller claimed that the product was not sent damaged. However, PayPal is very strongly "buyer protective" company, so if you provide any decent proof that the item really was damaged, you will win the dispute and get your money back.
So, I would not call it "good news" or "bad news". In order to get your money back you must convince them that you are telling the truth.

So all in all is it a good message? I already sent them documentation, no pictures. Pictures in my case wont do too much. I was sent fake gold. So a picture of the fake gold wont prove nothing.

Agreed, pictures won't help here. But an expert opinion should do the job.

They are trying to verify your identity. Now you know if that's a good or a bad thing.

Ok great thanks. All the places charge about $200-$300.00 for appraisals or testing for gold.

So I forged a documents.

1. You know you can buy an acid scratch test for gold for $10, right?

2. So let me get this straight. You complained about the posted shipping rate, bought the item anyways, and when the item arrived, you filed forged documents claiming that the product is fake, WITHOUT ACTUALLY TESTING IT? Wow, remind me to never sell to you...

fake gold? what you have ordered btw?

Yes scratch test but according to paypal they had to be unbiased documentation and myself performing a test would of definitely been biased

Fake gold is extremely easy to tell from the real thing. It shouldn't be a judgment call like appraising art or something.

Yes ik it is easy to tell, lol thats why I opened a case. Your missing the point.

Paypal doesnt want my opinion, they want a qualified experts opinion. An unbiased opinion, which i couldnt provide myself.

So I didnt know what else to do, so I forged a document.

Still havent really received a straight answer. I really need to know someone please help me out.

Update: So a few days ago they asked me for documentation that was unbiased. I sent it and they sent me this message today.

"We received your fax. However, the document provided does not meet our requirements.
The requested document should clearly detail the extent of the damage or clearly explain how the item received significantly differs from the item

advertised. Also, we are unable to verify the named gemologist, and his contact telephone number.

In addition, the document you provided is somewhat unclear, and too dark to read."

My big worry and question is will they actually call the gemologist? I dont want to put a gemologist number on there and then he will ruin the case and say he doesnt know what he is talking about.

It said verify so do they search for the gemeologist or was that another way of saying they couldnt read the gemolgist name because of the darkness?

Please let me know asap

Is anyone here a licensed gemogist that would help me out for compenstation?

I would think they would make the phone call to the gemologist, or at the very least, check the number to make sure he is legit.

I don't know too much about the precious metals field as to physical possession, nor do I know what kind of cash you have invested in this transaction, but I would think that a trip to a local jeweler explaining the whole situation could get you what you need for the price of a "Thank you for helping me out".

That is just speculation but I would have to believe that you could sweet talk your way to a free assay by sharing what you are sharing here.
