Over Optimization Penalty Launched Today

So a Tier 1 web 2.0 property (squidoo page) now outranks my main site. This Squidoo page has only one article and I would say is over optimized, and has almost no backlinks of pagerank.

Update makes no sense what so ever

Yeah, I am still trying to process what I am seeing as it seems I might be better off starting all over now with a new domain. My current domain might be burnt toast.
 
I am seeing changes more on my older sites that for sure have more "authority" than some of the new sites I am working.
These results can't hold....the results are just terrible right now...shit sites all over the front page. Sit tight everyone, this thing i snot over. Ya I do some SE0 shit...but all my sites are quality as well. I can't even believe the results right now, worst I have ever seen them. Don't worry....the end users are going to notice too.
 
So the question is what works now? Social media signals? or whatever fuck G calls it.
 
google kill SEO
my site had this morning 20 long tail KW on first page
now only 1 KW at 2nd place

every few KW i use different SEO
once it was Fiverr AMR other times web 2.0
all gone the only KW stay up is the one i never did anything like no SEO whatsoever

hope it just dance cuz all the content was hand write

This time it is not dance. It is a new algo.
 
I usually don't say to much about google updates etc. etc. but I was looking at a lot of the sites that were on the first page for a lot of keywords and man this is horrible. Most sites on the 1st page have 0 descriptions nothing at all.

This is pretty bad and looks like garbage.

Pretty same here. The search quality keep decreasing. There is a one website which ranks for very high competitive keyword. It has 0 text and 0 description. Just title and flash content.
 
Just need to sit tight and see what shakes out after a week or so. Then analyze the results to see what strategies will work.

It's like a web-wide dance while they push out a massive update to all of their results so assuming the changes of this hour will be the final changes makes no sense.

IMO right now SEO people's time would be best spent thinking up good tests to use after the new results settle so they can discover what works. Don't assume someone's going to jump on BHW and let you know exactly which links are now good and bad.
 
my ranking are pretty much the same. Only 1 site went from 3rd to 6th ( emd)

FOr those who dropped, what was your SEO strategy? I've focused on manual bookmark a lot + web 2.0.

I think the social flag saved my sites.

Any thought?
 
Negative SEO is even easier now...I think now will be a good time to take up SEOmoz on their challenge to negative SEO their site, doesn't seem like it would be that hard...
 
One of my sites has over 8K tweets, 1500 likes and 100 +1s. These are real.... Real meaning left by visitors not purchased and it still sank like a stone.... a sexy, sexy stone. I am now being outranked by several of my web 2.0 push sites... LOL

Neg SEO doesn't work well on sites that are as big as SEOmoz... works like a charm on small and mid sized sites though. Xrummer is an even better tool now then it was years ago.

What's bizarre is that I am noticing my sites are NOT ranking for keywords which I optimized, but ARE ranking for synonyms which I barely did any SEO for.

For example, if I optimized for blue widget reviews, I would be slapped for that, but I would rank for blue widget ratings.
 
What I have mainly found is my micro niche sites where I did lower quality linkbuilding have dropped and my client sites have gained as I did white hat SEO.

See what happens in the next week. :P
 
I'm a noob with just one mns that I was working on that I hadn't built backlinks to yet. As of right now it jumped 4 places on the first page of google.

Well, it would probably take thousands of us to do it, with a ridiculous number of backlinks with super shitty spun content pointing to their site...
 
my web2.0 also (wordpress.com) rank now on first page when my site is no where to be found???

This is very correct. If it is not a huge site it is very easy to take it down now. SEOmoz is authority site. I can say the top 20k alexa ranking sites would be hard. Top 1k is impossible :)
