I've had the number one spot on 2 keywords for the past 6 months - banking between 10 and 15 grant per month.. One keyword is #5 now and the other is #8 
Damn...
Anyway - if this update sticks, I think the only way out is High PR and extremely low OBL backlinks.. Build in a steady but slow pace..

The two examples in the update that were given, the first being keyword stuffing, this I have not done, either on my site or other sites that I built with links pointing to my site...
The second example, gave an example of a site with links that had nothing to do with the text, I didn't do this either...
Now, I did use spun content on sites pointing to my site but I always had the keywords in the spun text, but not excessively at all...
I don't know, maybe we will see a bounce back shortly depending on how bad the offense was...

quite a few of my sites that I were running programs on have all dropped I'd say around 100 sites dropped. the other 400 are doing ok so far. but as more layers come out Well, we'll see.
Anyway, All my clients i've always done their linking 100% white hat for this reason alone and all of their rankings actually jumped at least for now.

This looks A LOT like the garbage we went through starting around the middle of the month. I have to believe this is just the start of a big correction, not sure how this will play out but there is so much trash on page 1 right now that this cannot be good for Google long term.
The reason Google took over was because they brought the MOST relevant results. What they fail to realize is that even though there may be black hat tactics going on to rank that most black haters actually take the time and effort to put forth some quality sites. What I am seeing now is just pathetic.
I think I figured out why there is a big zipper on Google search today....they are saying to us "SUCK IT"!!!

Been #1 for over a year with an EMD for a 4k keyword and i'm now being outranked by a 300 word article with 4 backlinks. NICE.
Oh well, at least my competitors are even much worse than me.
That Matt Cutts post is bullshit as usual. "Information quality" cannot be judged directly by an algorithm and blackhat is just automated whitehat. As long as inbound links influence ranks, they can and will be manipulated.
Google has just destroyed a lot of small businesses with this, and while that is a great thing for them because it forces people into Adwords, there are also a lot of search terms/types of websites that Adwords does not allow.
And it actually does nothing, but turn Google into more of an ad platform than a search engine.
If this stays like this, it's time to buy Google stocks, with a crapload of leverage.

My advice: If your sites' rankings have dropped, look at the sites above you in the rankings and see what they're doing that you aren't.
Needless to say I'm surprised it took this long for Google to start discounting blog comments - 99.9999% of those are spam anyways these days.

You can still rank a white hat site fairly quickly if you do it right...
