Not appearing in Top Posts

Hi all,

I started a new account (less than a month old) in my niche : my engagement is great, I am getting close to 1k likes a post, haven't bought any likes or follows.
However, my posts don't seem to be appearing in the top posts section of any hashtag page, no matter how unpopular the tag. Posts do fine in most geotags though.
Any ideas on what's up with that?

I know the algo for top posts takes into account how many likes are from followers (I probably am getting less than 50% likes from followers atm since I just started). Could it have something to do with the fact that I sent people over from my big account and a lot of them have been liking without following the new one? I would really like to figure this one out since I can't imagine growing in my niche without consistent top post exposure....

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi. The accounts that have posts in the top posts, how is their engagement looking? It may be that others are just getting better engagement on those hashtags.

Thank you for the reply! I doesn't seem like it from what I can tell.. I have a business account so I can see my engagement info (about 400 on the last picture I posted over 3 hours ago). There are a several photos in the less popular hasthag pages I tagged that have under 300 likes. One of them got 140 in 10 hours. :/

This could be the reason. Alot of people have said that engagement has dropped massively when switching to a business account, one of the reasons i wont risk switching any of mine accounts. It may be a sly tactic from instagram not allowing your posts to be featured so you buy ads from them.

If you have more likes and comments than the other accounts in said hashtags, then the only reason is that your account(s) have been ghosted by Instagram.

Thank you for your reply. Doesn't ghosting make your photos completely invisible in hashtag search? To clarify: mine do appear in hashtags, they just never make it to top posts regardless of how many likes and commens they get..

That sounds pretty sinister.. I really wish there was more transparency on instagram's part! lol

Two questions : how to know or check if ghosted and also adding geotags works as a boost too ?

You pretty much answered your question. You have more likes/comments than the ones on top of the hashtag page, yet don't make it up there. Instagram is blocking your posts from reaching the top. You must have done something to upset IG and that's why they hashtag ghosted you.

From experience, it will be extremely difficult, if not impossible for you to get back to normal. Stick with the account for a few weeks, if nothing changes dump it by selling it.

Thanks @mladz, you are the reason i joined engagement groups and it was the best thing i did for growth, so ill take your word over any of the suspect IG methods and scaremongering on this forum.

OP I hope your account gets better in time.

i feel im having this issue as well any insights?
