NFT Whitepaper Tips (2022)

Hello BHW,

I have been helping people with their NFT projects for the past year and so I have done tons of research on what works and what doesn´t.

One of the main pieces of any project is their whitepaper, I´ve seen it all, so to make it easier for yall. I am sharing with you my criteria to build your own papers.

As well as sharing plenty of examples so you can be inspired and also know what WORKS and what doesn´t...

First of all...


I personally prefer Gitbook. (No affiliation)

Gitbook is an excellent platform for whitepapers/light papers as you can always go back and edit the content.
If you do it in PDF, once you release it to the public, you can’t take it back.

Whitepaper Structure:

Regarding the content, I propose the following structure:

• Introduction to the project and the story of your NFT (about the character, vision, mission, etc)
• Rarity/traits
• Utility – benefits of holding your NFT
• Roadmap – current and planned activities, what you will do with the funds raised, DAO, buying other NFTs, 3d character, staking, future drops,
• Roll out the plan for the 1st drop
• How to mint
• Team

Looks like a lot of work but good content!

Always been interested in hearing about how a project sustains its monthly expenses after mint phase.

For most projects i dont think the 10% royalties can cover overhead.

As a cryptocurrency investor, I hate Gitbook whitepapers. I want a PDF. People find the whitepapers on official sources, so if you need to update it to release a new version, it's no problem. The navigation on Gitbook is just such a huge turnoff compared to a PDF. You need to be able to quickly scan a whitepaper, and Gitbook simply does not allow it. You are much more likely to get my money with a PDF whitepaper, all other things being equal.
