Newbie Advice On Setting Up Site Please :)

Hi, I've been following this site for quite a while now, and last year decided to make my first website, I decided to make a niche site and bought a keyword from a member on this site. I was told the keyword was low competition and had searches of around 6,600 on google keyword tool. I setup the site added about 20 unique articles, setup adsense and paid around $150 for SEO, Unfortunately I got no results after approximately 6months (was given estimation of page 1 is 2 months) and the site didn't do well. I did not have enough funds to carry on paying for SEO so had to stop. The SEO provider told me your site didn't rank because you did not add enough articles on a regular basis and others told me your keyword was too high in competition.

So.... I come back to this site a year on hoping to try again and make it work. i don't have many funds this time round approximately $50 if that!! But i want to start small and all money made but back in to make new sites.

Here are some questions that I would much appreciate if someone answered....

Last year I aimed for a micro niche site and was hoping to make at least $10 a day from this site after ranking due to keyword having 6,600 monthly searches, do you think MNS is still the best option when low on funds?

How should I go about keyword research, everybody has conflicting views on if a keyword is low competition?

I'm aiming to make a site with low funds, so do not want to be constantly be paying for new articles, is it possible to make like 5 articles on a LOW COMPETITION keyword site and just leave and move onto next site?

I'm looking to make at least $5 a day from each site, how many searches a month keyword should I look for?

The real question - is my plan viable, is it possible to find a very low competition keyword with high searches place upto 10 articles, monetise with adsense pay very low for seo as keyword competition low, not need to add more articles and make at least $3 a day per site just from putting in around $50?

Start by reading the guides on all those topics here on BHW. Use the advanced search function on the forum here and you'll find everything you need quickly. Lots of great guides.

Mate stop wasting money on seo. Use fiverr and other quality providers ( think wisely ) and as 4 da articles. If it was so easy 2 rank a site with 5 posts i would be a millionaire. U need to udpdate it atleast 3 times a wek. Use original content and google will suck u like crazy.

Thanks for the reply pal, I aimed to make an MNS site so assumed around 20 articles would be ok if the keyword was low competition, but thanks I guess I was being wishful!. I'll have a look on fiverr but have no clue on what to buy if I were to rank a site, and how to actually go about creating my new one. Any help would be much appreciated.

You seem to be come from a 1st world country, with a bright future ahead. So... I'am going to tell you a little dark secret about something you should know about this place.

You see, @Ryan Daniels, this forum is made up of 2 primarily type of threads. The "follow me to on my journey to make $x dollars a day" and the "get your ready [insert money making niche] site that will make you $xxxx-$xxxx a month on autopilot" threads.

The former kind of threads inspires noobies(the vast majority from india and 3rd world countries and some disabled people and teens from 1st world country) to start their own similar journeys using the same kind of tools(followliker, mass planer, etc) to do the same exact thing.The latter kind of threads inspires people like you that come from a 1st world country to get "passive" income by buying this ready made site that only need "SEO" to start making some nice passive income.

The real truth is that , both kind of threads almost always never delivered their promise. If you take a look at the micro niche BST threads, they are always new people coming to buy those services aka their returning customers are really low.

To make serious money on this forum, there is mostly 2 routes people take.

The kind of people that take the first route, start writing a bunch of SEO tips, tutorials, etc. , in other words, typical SEO guru shit. Then, shortly after that they start opening BST threads to sell their services and their "super ranking on steroids" SEO services.

The second kind of people taking the second route, are what I like to call the bot makers. They start releasing a bunch of free 1-2 hour simple ass bots, to get their reputation going, and to get those likes and possibly some freelancing contracting bot making jobs here(jobs that pay between 50-300 dollars).

Every once in a while, you get the jack of all trades guru. These are the gurus that literally claim to be an expert in everything from SEO services to Bot making, they are the kind that will charge you $60 dollars an hour making bots(while still not having any professional software developing experience besides scraping on freelancer forums lol) that a professional bot maker would charge you $50-100 dollars to do for the whole job.

However, the people doing the journey threads such as adsense/amazon micro niche/instagram/cpa journeys are what I like to refer to the "penny pinchers". These kind of folks like to count their "virtual pennies" that they make on their journey threads. It is money that hasn't materialized into cold hard cash, because they still have a long way to meet the minimum threshold on their affiliate account(if they don't get banned before payout from spamming) before their earnings materialized into cold-hard cash.

So... to answer your question. If you really want to make money on this forum, then this is what I would suggest. Freelance , freelance, and freelance doing what most people on this forum can't do, code and write content.

Take a look at the non-3rd-world country folks here that make decent money. These folks do not engage in the whole SEO game, or doing "penny pinching" journeys, they sell their services.

I will tell you a secret about me, I make more money freelancing my coding services that I ever made doing any of these BH "sure making" money methods here.

Basically, because I already make my own money doing freelancing coding(no bot making for money making schemes stuff, actually coding for start ups as a contractor), I will be in the group that I like to call, Free Black Hat Source bots.

First I would like to thank you for such an honest and detailed post! I must admit I had fallen for this trap of "$x dollars a day" and the "get your ready [insert money making niche] site that will make you $xxxx-$xxxx a month on autopilot" and your post does make me realise that this is like in any niche a "too good to be true" scenario.

Thanks so much for your advice and I will definitely be taking up your advice of freelancing and looking more into it.

But do you still think there is a chance to make a website and do well, last year when I created a site I didn't buy a service and decided to do it myself, do you think its not worth doing myself again but hopefully properly with more knowledge?

If you're really determined to create small websites and profit from them, then you're probably better off starting with some sort of affiliate site like amazon.

Short answer, Yes!

What you need to do, is basically pick a side you want to be at. Do you want to be chasing online pennies through affiliate marketing, or do you want to be creating your original content and sell your services/products on the side. I'am not saying you cannot make big money through affiliate marketing, but what I'am saying is that in order to really make good money online, you have to establish yourself as a go-to guy.

We are living in a strong freelance society, if you are not working for a big corporation or a job, you are going to have to make your own money by selling your services.

All the serious players in IM, once established themselves here, then they got trolled to death by the trolls who don't do any SEO but just roam this place looking for someone to troll.

You know what all the trolls say? That they were spreading rehashed information that was posted here years ago. Yet, they were jealous that they were actually writing content for the noobs and sending them to their blog to make money from them because they expect people to write content for free lol.

The point is that you will not be able to make money here unless you sell SEO services or bots. If you want to sell IM content, you will get trolled to death, so you better off just not get on BHW if you want to start making money.

Becoming an established member here will not make you money unless you become part of the circle jerk. Just take a look at the governing body here(mods, and higher level jr vip), 90% of them are selling a BST thread here and you need to give them a free copy for them to review it.

Yea, if he wants to pinch pennies and wait 90 days to get paid after meeting the minimum threshold, then yes he should do this.

This is the worst advice ever!

His time is obviously worth more, so I would suggest you avoid affiliate with amazon and stop being part of those "penny pinchers".

Why don't you make some "easy" money first and then move onto bigger and better things.

You write well and would make a lot more than $10 a day for only a few hours work.

The truth is this - SEO is HARD. Its never going to be as easy as paying $100 for a keyword and $100 for some SEO and then making $3k-$4k per year from that small investment. You really need to invest a lot of time and money into researching, building and ranking these sites in order to make money.

You also really need to start doing your own research and learning how to do it youself - its really not something that you can be taught to do (Unless by taught you mean paying shitloads of money to a "guru" and then making them rich and yourself poor).

Here is where you need to be going:

1.Keyword research - you should really learn this yourself, it will save you money and it will give you the understanding of the foundations of how the whole thing works. You can search on BHW and find loads of guides about keyword research but it really comes down to finding keywords that have a reasonable amount of searches and relatively low competition. Finding search volume can be done from google keyword planner, and there are tons of ways that you can find the competition but really you need to look at the sites who are currently ranking 1/2/3 and see what they are like, what backlinks they have etc and you need to be able to better those sites in every way and on your budget.

2.Building the site and content - you probably have this bit down already but of course you need to build a decent site, have it well optimized for your keywords and have relevent and regularly updated content on it.

3.off site SEO - this is where it gets difficult. You need to understand what the competition are doing, what the current top sites are doing and then better those tactics on your own site in order to rank. Again there are lots of guides here for doing so, but its not easy at all and it takes a long time to really understand all of the parts of this process and how it all works. I am sure you will fail a lot of times and tank a lot of sites before you get the hang of this.

BUt none of that means you cant do it, you just need to really work hard, keep trying and testing new ideas and never give up at it.
