Hi! I hope you are all doing well as you are reading this. I would like to introduce myself. I am a mother of two from California in the United States. Although I have been a fan in the shadows for years this is the first time I have come out the woodwork to say "Hello". I guess for a while I was a little intimidated and overwhelmed with so much information. I literally had NO idea what I wanted to do or how to make it work or what could actually work or what was a scam...whew! lol

So just a little history, I'll try to keep it to a paragraph. I have 2 small girls. I went back to college and graduated in 2013, but trouble was when i graduated, I lost my college related childcare. they were supposed to cover 6 months after graduation to give graduates time to find work. Budget cuts. :( So I had to stay home with my 3 year old until she became school age. September 2015 she attended school and I started looking for work. Just as everything started moving in the right direction I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder and became seriously ill. But now, I finally feel back to health. But I can't return to regular 9-5 work. What better time to follow my dream of an online income!

As I stated before, I have always looked to BHW as the most current and experienced forum when it comes to internet marketing and online income streams. I respect your opinions so much. That is why it has taken so long to post anything. After a lot of thought I think I have found my avenue. I know you all can't give too much information but any advice would be appreciated. I don't have much to invest right now, so i can't afford to buy a program or ebook.

I would like to use the Franklin Hattchet aliexpress method to sell on a website, ebay, amazon and craigslist. I want to also use social media to promote/sell products. I also want to purchase certain bestselling items to sell at a booth at conventions/expos/events. I would also be doing tutorial/review videos on youtube. giveaways. contests, etc Also FB/IG promotion. Build my following and sales and monetize my IG/FB with "shoutouts" and partnerships. People pay for ad space at our booths, etc. I know it sounds like a lot but have had PLENTY of time to think, lol. Of course this is the abridged version. There is a lot more planing and details but you get the jist.

Do you thinks this is a good idea?
Have any of you had success with dropshipping from aliexpress?
Would any of you mind sharing your experience?
The good?
The bad?
The ugly?
Thank you for taking time to read and whatever advice you can offer is greatly appreciated.

Hello and welcome to Black Hat World!

I live in California as well. Anyway, I haven't tried dropshipping or any methods with Aliexpress before, but if anything you'll at least get a good start on the learning curve and you'll be able to figure what works for you and what doesn't.

Good luck!

Thank you all for such a warm welcome. I will focus my attention in one direction for now. It just seems you have to be pretty good at juggling to make any money, lol. I figured the more exposure the better chance of my product being seen/sold. I will check that forum out as well. Glad to see there are some fellow Californians out there! Thanks again everybody, keep it coming!

So I thought I knew what I wanted to do then I kept reading. I saw a few people having issues with shipping and finding products that move consistently. Now I started thinking maybe I need to scale down and start with something more simple. I don't have much experience with building stores and selling products. I had an ebay store and a storenvy and ended up closing them but I wasn't dropshipping either. I was actually stocking and shipping from home. My profit margin was literally cents. With the cost of shipping, chargebacks, and advertising, it just killed me. I thought I would be able to get around that with dropshipping. Now I'm not so sure.

I started reading more posts on social media and how to monetize accounts there. Now THAT I do, lol. I am very active on social media accounts such as FB, IG, Tumblr, Skype, Snapchat, Kik(the latter two I don't have accounts yet but I troll in every once in a while) I am constantly checking news stories and current events and think maybe starting a page tat uses that talent could be more lucrative than trying to do something so unfamiliar. I can still use part of my original plan. Using social media and build accounts/pages about the things I enjoy and know about (celebrity stuff, job hunting, etc), find cpa offers that make sense and cents, lol. Sell some shout out and ads on page, etc. Work with what you know. Sometimes it's right under your nose. Thank you again for all you advice and help! Hey! All my Californians, aren't you just loving this cold right now. It's been so hot, this cold is great! Well, time to get to work. The one thing I did read on every post was that nothing will happen by itself. Getting educated is good but you have to get started. So...here I go. (I feel like I am standing on a diving board at the deep end of the pool)

Getting past the learning curve is a challenge for most people, but you'll eventually find out what works and what doesn't.

Also, to answer your question, I think I preferred the heat.

Hi Everybody! I hope I'm not driving you guys crazy with the daily updates but it seems everyday I learn something new and now that I stepped out off the woodwork, i can't shut up! lol. Last night I started doing more refining and a lot of looking. I started searching the KW's for the niches I am considering and a few more methods, hehe. I have been also collecting content and images I will use. I just have a couple of questions.

1. Should I create a TOTALLY new WP acct.? I have one but it's just family stuff. When a person goes to my WP site will it say something like "other blogs" or something else? Or can I just create another blog in the dashboard and go from there?

2. Should I do the same with ALL my social media accts? Like on FB it allows you to "create a page" from your personal FB. like a business or org. Should I just do that or start a new FB acct.?

3. I am shamefully broke right now. I am wondering if I start with the free WP acct. and pay later for the domain will that effect my traffic?

Separate your personal site from your business site. You don't want half your site to be written casually about your family and the other half to feature a professional tone.

I just create pages under my personal Facebook account for my business pages. In case you're wondering, most people won't be able to find out you're the admin of the page unless you say so, although if I remember correctly, checking the source code of the pages may display the admin's name.

It's better to pay for the domain right now rather than use a free subdomain. This way, you won't have to go through the trouble of 301 redirecting your domain, losing link equity, etcetera. You may also want to consider just using a free host such as Freehostia temporarily, and when you have the money, move your site to a paid host. There's a great guide here that goes over starting a website that I recommend reading. http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/white-hat-seo/301187-complete-guide-starting-website.html

Thank you so much for such quick responses and all the great info. i had NO idea about freehostia. I did search for free domain/hosting but found nothing. Well paid offers. I will definitely check it and the guide out right now! Thanks again. I really appreciate it.

hello and welcome to bhw, have you ever heard of amazon affiliates? perhaps you should give that a look :)
