My Startup is Tanking -- Need serious consultation

I would drop this business.

If you spend some time reading around you with find ways to make money without having to buy a inventory.

Like others have said, I'd drop this website like a hot & greasy pan.

Some great advice has been given but I feel it was all given in vain. The key thing behind any business model is not the website, who created it or where traffic is coming from. It's the person behind the plan.

As investors say, "we don't invest in businesses, we invest in people". I don't think there's 1 person on here who'd invest a penny in OP.

From what he has displayed just in his decision making abilities.... there's no way he's turning an ROI.

He bought a boat with no engine. Then him and his partner jumped on that boat and untied the strings. And now that boat is slowly but steadily drifting out into shark infested waters. And that's not even the bad part. The bad part is he never got his boating license. And he also happened to skip survival camp which was a 6 month course. If Bear Grills got on that boat he'd have a hard time. But he might find a way to steer it back to land. If he couldn't... he'd spear a bunch of sharks, build a kyak out of their dead carcus then paddle back to the beach while drinking his own piss.

I hate to sound so negative but this is the exact type of ship OP is standing on. And the people giving him advice are really aiding and embedding his soon to be career as shark dinner.

1. Forget SEO Leverage Facebook & Youtube
2. as Lightiningblitz said, Create how to' guides for new people playing the Game.
3. Publish these guides on gaming blog. Will cost you a little but you can find some good gaming blogs on fiverr.
4. Add some description of games/products on your site

You still might be able to make a profit on your inventory by registering to sell on Amazon and Ebay. At the very least, you shouldn't take too much of a loss on it.

If you decide to give up on the website for now, then that would be the best thing to try with it.

If you are inexperienced with ecommerce they are best places to start selling anyway.

My apologies for not clarifying NetMoney1, but my reference to the savings in relation to the startup was including the cost of inventory in addition to the stores website.

Its pretty hard to hear you put it that way. May I ask why you put it like this? Perhaps, say, in relation to a proper website model?

Why? Because it isn't a startup. Not even close. It is a "biz in a box" (well, sold as one...but it is so far from a business it isn't even funny). Trash it. Liquidate your inventory and salvage as much as possible, Every SECOND you stay in the "business" you are losing. Get out.

^^^^ DING DING DING. We have a winner. Boat with no motor.

Can you clarify where your skill set is, I see you say you worked in sales, therefore taking a look at your site do you sell? I'm not going to say yay or nay, you need to look. If not then ask yourself, how did you do it in the real world? Invariably this would be with words, pictures, demonstrations Etc but most importantly words.

Your physical locale would be in a place of footfall aimed at the target market. Now look at your site and ask yourself, how do I place myself in the path of footfall? Hint, social community building etc.

You have to go through every stage of the sales process and operational planning and conduct process in the exact same manner as you would with a brick business. If you don't you will fail.

Ok the out of the box site is not a great idea, but if you can edit the site add a blog. Don't be all business like, you have to be in sync with your target market and build a community. If you can't see yourself doing that your product choice is wrong.

You seem to want the absolute solution to your quandary and that is not coming from a thread full stop. It takes time to learn everything, but I can assure you some of the ideas you have been given are gold.

We have all made stupid mistakes in the past and unfortunately this was one of yours. You have received more helpful advice than I expected though.

I would lower the prices as far as humanly possible while still being able to make a profit, undercutting most competitors, then upload a product feed to google shopping and run some amazon PLA's to see if you can get any sort of traction in this niche.

If it doesn't work, no big deal...pick a different niche and start over with your newly found motivation from this foundational learning experience.

Whatever you do, don't let this failure get away from you without turning it into a valuable learning experience that you can then apply towards your next venture. Fail better next time, that's all.

Random Tip: Next time forget about "Crystal Commerce" and throw up a basic shopify store to start testing the niche before jumping in with both feet, that way you can quickly cut your losses if things don't work out.

Here are some pointers from my side, I hope it helps.
It seems like a very generic site that doesn't seem to have a very unique design and that its something that might be a reseller type business? Anyway...a few simple things I picked up...besides ergonomics not being very good and sales driven...

1.Meta Title description is too short
2.Meta keyword discription missing
3.Meta keywords missing
4.Page speed is 55 (too slow)
5.No Sitemap (atleast from what I can tell)
6.30/35 of your images don't have alt tags
7.Your website is listed on ripoffreport...can harm rankings
8.No canonical tags found
9.No Meta report
10.Add google+, twitter,Linkedin acounts

I just now read the other comments...I completely agree with the "business in a box" statement.
Learn from it and move on
