10 links from trusted sites with related content to your will beat 300 random backlinks.
How effective are backlinks within the signatures on forums?

As long as you can find yourself with "domain.com" in a google search you are not sandboxed.
Effective compared to what though? These links are effective, will show some good short time results. But compared to links from pages with relevant content to your link, they dont compare.
So I could basically rent/pay someone to add my sites link to their singnature since most people have several thousands posts on forums, and every post with a signature counts as a backlink.........that's like, I don't know, a lot of backlinks.
That's about as generic as advice gets.
Sometimes I wonder if half of the people leaving responses like this have ever actually ranked a site, or if they are just repeating some regurgitated crap they picked up in a $10 PDF.
Like mentioned above, there's really no fool proof way to know. Consistency is key with anything WH. Keep at it.
ROTFL! This has got to be one of the most straight-up comments I've read on BHW in quite some time! (and I am a daily reader) There are so many people who love to comment on stuff they know nothing about other than what they read somewhere... This place is riddled with misinformation that people have gleaned from worthless WSO's or DP garbage and not real world experience... It is very difficult for a newb to learn how to wade through all the junk to get to the truth. I know this first hand because I am no expert and have only been at this for about a year now and it was only after I started actually experimenting with things myself that rankings started happening for me... Its sort of like learning to ride a bike... One day everything just clicks and you start to really GET IT and things start coming naturally to you and you are able to see through alot of the crap. Thats not to say just because you know how to ride a bike there is not more to learn if you want to compete with the professional bike riders who are doing stunts and stuff right? Anyway... here is my non-expert basic (I am not a stunt rider YET) opinion of your problem... and without full disclosure by you we are all left to speculate so here goes... If you on-page SEO is not cutting the mustard, or is TOO obviously an attempt to keyword spam your page, google knows what you are up... If your keyword keyword density is too high it's a strike against you. Also, <h> tags make a differentce, but again not too heavy... And like several others have said, you dont really know how many backlinks another site has because google does not report on all of them... The site I am working on at the moment I have hundreds of DIRECT backlinks that I know about and google says I have only 2-3...
IMHO "Link Juice" is what its really all about and I think thats why google hides it... Lets say I have a huge farm of linkwheels all with relevant content surrounding them and drop keyword links on all of them and point them to some blogger blog, and the only link on that blogger blog is to my money site, that basically transfers a shit-ton of "link juice" from my entire blogfarm to my money page by redirecting all the juice through my blogger blog... but even siteexplorer is only going to show I have 1 backlink to my money page. I have several sites on the front page of google for my keywords that are less than a month old and purposefully only have about 10 backlinks pointing directly at my money site. Those backlinks however were groomed specifically for that purpose... Each contains unique content (which I for one do believe makes a difference, but I suppose some people love to debate this). Behind each of those backlinks are hundreds of backlinks pointing to them with the proper anchors, surrounded by spun but relevant content. Several of my pages sit at #2 or #3 positions on a front page of google with sites no less than 2-12 years old (and mine are 1-3 months old (one is actually a week old), with hundreds of thousands of domain backlinks (amazon, target, youtube etc...), and most have more page backlinks SHOWING than I do... Its not scientific, its the magical powers of "link juice" Get youself a couple of bottle of Crazy G's "Link Juice" today! But, you better act fast before its all gone! hahahah it sounded like such a sales pitch I couldn't resist![]()
Good luck bro...
I've been having the same troubles. I am #2 in Yah00 but page 5 on big G. Seems like the more links I get the lower SERPS I recieve from G.
Is there a surefire way to tell if you are sanboxed? I assumed that the term meant you would be temporarily de-indexed.
I have been using Scrapebox to get higher PR links but nothing I try seems to work for goggle.
Also backlink tools do not show you all the backlinks for the site due to nature of algorithm. If they did, everyone would know how to get that #1 spot.
