I am a programmer. I can develop mobile or web apps.

Are there any good money making mobile or web app ideas ?
I have already tried creating small apps. But they did not give me at least 5USD per month.
I am from Sri Lanka and our country is in crisis these days.
I'm not trying to become rich.
About 100USD per month is enough.

There are some courses related to app promotion. You can use those tricks for already live apps and increase earnings.
 
Mobile apps, hands down.

Browse Google play apps, get some ideas and build a simple yet useful app on a subscription model and make a lot more than 100 per month.

Then publish it on ios and make 5x more.

You can start with ios but it is a bit harder, it cost 99 per year as opposite to 30 one time with Google play, Google is easier to start with and split test apps.
 
I'm a computer science engineer and many times I'm contacted to do projects that I can't develop due to time constraints, which technologies do you master? And do you have a portfolio?

get going with freelancing mate ! And get some projects , you can easily make about 300 to 700 dollars per month , It would surely be enough mate !

Look on sites like fiver, freelancer. Also you can check twitter & linked in for jobs people looking for workers
 
The very bad thing is Google Admob almost doesn't pay for ads click in IN/PK/Bang -(3rd countries).
So, you much have download from US/CA/EU your app. Join Facebook groups that will have targeted users for you and do a post for your app.
I found that USA love ads click if your app is good :D
 
create google merchant accepted webshops and sell them, there is a big market for it and people will pay significant sums for it.
