[METHOD] Popups made easy! 2000$/month

Hey guys an update.
I tried some days ago a test with a sweepstake offer and two different landers (both took on purelander), T1 country traffic from popads (yes I know I should be using T2-T3 but it was just a test).
Everything setted up in Voluum too as tracker; on popads I setted 0.001 as bidding offer.
I know I run the offer for just some hours, so it's very little time to make any decent test, but I put that in pause after I saw a quite terrible CTR compared to the money spent on popads.

I've tried the offer in two consecutive days, like 2-3 hours for day I guess.

Here is a screen of the two days of the test:

nrRfra

Money spent for the test: 39,85$
Revenue: 3,65€ (around 4,28$)

On Voluum stats:

28,271 visits (I guess these are the impressions - prelanding showed to visitors)
235 clicks

total conversions made: 7

I know that we have to spend a lot of money to find a good converting campaign but I've posted these numbers to hear about your thoughts as they seem quite terrible.

I mean, obviously I didn't thought to make a profit in the first campaign or even to break even, but those numbers seems very discouraging to keep on the test and throw other money in it.

Thank you for your comments guys.

Are you going super broad with popads or lasering it down with devices, location etc?

Thank you very much for this information. I will definitely give it a try. Thanks again.

Pop ups can be very annoying to visitors to your website. In fact the top bloggers only use pop ups to collect emails offering a free PDF etc

What do you want to know?
im running campaign adult CPA , i have landing page already and now i want to know the target for traffic adult on popads.could you show me more, normaly i don't have any converstion from that :( thanks you

PopAds isn't the best for adult traffic. What geo are you targeting? What kind of adult offer?

You need to speak to your AM to find out which geos are hot for dating right now and run those.

The problem running everywhere is you might be running in a geo that does not convert with dating offers or you might not be getting good placements.

Are you tracking what you're doing here?

Hey Ancientaliens thank you for the reply.
I've setted popads to specific country, device (smartphone), all categories but Adult (forbidden by offer advertiser) and used popunder as default to show the prelanding pages.

all categories but Adult (forbidden by offer advertiser)

Double meta refresh will prevent the advertiser and affiliate network seeing if you run adult traffic.

A lot of offers do not allow adult traffic, but adult traffic works really well for certain verticals (antivir being the top).

Yep I'm using double meta refresh following your tips :), but didn't realize that I would put inside even forbidden traffic with double meta refresh!
Thanks for this tip too!

In general what do you think about my test post above? I'm doing something wrong? Worth keeping test those 2 prelanders + same offer or something is clearly wrong with them?

Thanks

The thing about testing a Tier 1 geo is that it's way more competitive and as a result need to spend more on traffic.

The good thing about tier 2-3 geos is that the traffic is generally cheap and this means you can test campaigns quickly and bin the ones that aren't performing.

I would try 3 landing pages against an offer and 2 traffic sources. Ideally you would run the offer over 2 days from morning until evening (7am-11pm). You need to proactively cut the bad placements during this time - if you're getting 300 views but no click, cut the placement and test others.

As a guide, you want to spend Offer Payout x Number of Landers testing x 5-10 (depending on whether it's a proven lander and/or offer).

Edit: I should add, you cannot miss a winning campaign. You will get lots of conversions very quickly.

Thank you for this very informative post, this will be useful not just for me but for everyone is following this thread.

If you please can clarify for me a couple of thing of your post it would be great:

You need to proactively cut the bad placements during this time - if you're getting 300 views but no click, cut the placement and test others.

What do you mean with "placements"? Landers?

As a guide, you want to spend Offer Payout x Number of Landers testing x 5-10 (depending on whether it's a proven lander and/or offer).

So in the case of my test:

0,30 x 2 x 10 = 6,00 € would be the max spending to check how good convert the offer?
If so I spent almost 40$ with that poor conversion rate...I guess this campaign doesn't works at all!

Especially after read this one

Edit: I should add, you cannot miss a winning campaign. You will get lots of conversions very quickly.

Thank Sep for keeping up this thread!

P.S.
Is the OP vanished?

EDIT
I forgot to ask...you talk about 2 traffic sources...if you talk about using popads...you mean trying like for one only Adult (for example) and the other traffic all traffic without adult? Or do you talk about using popads and another service.

Placements are the websites you're buying the visits from.

You need to check offers yourself before running them. Some will never convert, no matter how good your traffic or lander are. Some will convert easily as they don't make clear the billing etc.

I would say the campaign doesn't work at all - what was the offer?

Hey Sep,

Placements are the websites you're buying the visits from.

Ok I'm learning day after day, we're talking about websites IDs.

In this case how to filter the bad ones? Probably almost all are bad I guess...except those that made some conversions.

I understand that I have to check them but how do you do that for foreign offers especially when they accept only some mobile carriers, proxies or VPN oftne aren't enough and the screeshots of the affiliate network are quite useless.
How do you check every offers yourself?

The offer is a sweepstake about the "win an Iphone stuff".

EDIT
I can send the specific link of the offer via PM if you want :)

Just blacklist the websites that brought in no conversions. You can edit your campaign and go to "website targeting" and enter the websiteids there. Don't send your link to anybody man you don't want other people to steal your potential earnings

Thank you bpt for the reply :)
Yes I understand now the process about blacklisting bad websites, thank you. I can try another quick run just with those two websites up, let's see what comes up.
I don't think that anyway this offer will be a gold mine...
