McDonalds cashiers can't count..

Heartless thread. You are just luckier than them and you don't have any idea about how they work for a living.

I worked for McDonald's, they screwed me out of 2 weeks pay (and you thought cpa companies were bad)
My first week there, my manager was punching me in on the clock from a computer. He did show me how to punch in the very 1st day, but after a week later of him punching in for me, I went in the next week and he wasn't there and so I punched in on my own, I guess I forgot something and didn't do it right. It had been a whole week, and I've worked other places b4 McD's...I thought I punched in correctly and all was gravy...Then I get my pay check and it's for like 48 dollars, 48 DOLLARS?!?!? I worked 80 hours! (McDonald's pays bi-weekly) I went to my manager and said there's been a huge mistake, I showed him my check, and he asked if I'd been punching in correctly, and I was like shit, I thought I was, but with 48 dollars outta 80 hours kinda seems like I fucked something up huh? My manager goes, well there's nothing I can do about it.....(They have camera's, more camera's in fact on their employees than on the counter, the customers, or the parking lot combined). I'm like, dude, the camera's will show when I've been here and when I've left, and he goes, I'm not authorized to go through the camera's to see when employees have come and gone...So I go, you're telling me, I'm just fucked? and he nods....then I get mad, tell him fuck you, and that's when I walked out never to return to that hell hole again......I later found out I could'a sued them and made them pay some sort of ridiculous amount of money for each hour that they didn't pay me for, but I neither had a lawyer, and I didn't really start looking into that until a month or 2 later. Just never crossed my mind I guess. Anyway, yeah, I didn't mind the job, the people weren't stupid (a few of them yeah, but that's any job) one kid I almost punched, but he backed off, and that's about it...The hours suck, most the ppl there are never on the same schedule, and the manager's all of my managers were dickheads with absolutely no personality, and they'd get pissed at the slightest attempt to screw around or have fun, even with them..I told a few managers to screw off and got written up for it too. Anyway, there's my story, hope yah like.

i only know one thing about McDonalds cashiers:

they are so slim compared to the food they are selling :)

@highrider
Yeah what i was getting at is just the lack of education, but there's legitimate people who can count that leave because they have to deal with people screwing them over
still today(atleast in the US) you could contact your state and they'd have to pay you your unpaid wages,if you check with your state treasury they might have even left them there

Unnecessary:
So i just got a -rep for posting this thread about an experience i had and a biased opinion based on that experience and others that not everyone agrees with... with a comment that just says "ok" -_-

where are you from OP $3 for a coke? i think you're the one who cant count hahaha

just joking

I've replied in a post that it was a frozen beverage that was $3 not a coke

but i figured you were :P

You started a thread stating that McDonalds Cashiers can't count, which is not true, for the sole purpose of shitting on hard working people who actually have a job and try to make YOUR LIFE easier by serving you food, and you don't expect any negative backlash?

Get over yourself. There are plenty of College/University students who work at McDonalds while finishing their degrees because many McDonalds locations are very flexible with the hours they offer and will let you work short shifts that fit within your schedule.

To generalize that all employees, or even THIS particular employee can't count simply because of 1 mistake is just being a picky asshole. Everyone makes mistakes. It has absolutely no reflection on education or the education system.

For anyone that thinks it has to do with the education system, do you know how far this person got in school? Maybe she didn't attend school because she grew up with horrible parents. Not everyone in America gets to go to school. Some parents just do a terrible job raising their children. And by the way, they DO teach basic business math in High School throughout North America including how to calculate Taxes and Net Vs. Gross Income.

So yes, I neg repped you, maybe you should stop being an ass and it wont happen so much. You still never explain why you spelled the word "but" with 2 "t"s, although I see you edited it now because you realized how stupid you looked insulting a girl for making a simple mistake when YOU did too.

I didn't insult a girl for making a simple mistake i instead noted her attitude, her accusation that i shorted her and not acknowledging her mistake

it does have a reflection on education because if people were taught properly how to count money they could count it simple amounts in no times

But i'm done with this thread because it's pointless flaming back and forth

So please cut the pointless bullshit,
The time you spent writing that post the girl could have counted my change multiple times

Sincerely,

OP

Despite they cant count they also f*ck up my orders everytime. Cant remember the last time i went home and found out i got exactly what i ordered and paid for...

I don't see what you could expect. They work there because they are either, stupid, lazy or both. They don't give a shit if they do a good job, because they get paid like 7 bucks.
I never knew how stupid people actually were until I started working at a college I work at now. We provide GED testing and have tutoring before the test. Every time the advisor gets to the point where she explained "4-2x=-4", everyone acts as if they never heard of these "crazy things"!
I was shocked that people don't know easy shit like this in their 20s or even older.

"McDonalds cashiers can't count"

Sure seems like you insulted not only HER but thousands of other employees by generalizing that based on their job choice, they somehow lack education, due to this 1 mistake. Maybe she was having a bad day and didn't want to apologize to some jackass who was being rude and pissy with her. I sure wouldn't.

Obviously if you are the kind of guy who runs home to forums to blast shit about a worker trying to do their job the best the can under pressure, you aren't the kind of person who deserves an apology. She is the one who deserves an apology from you.

It has absolutely no reflection on the education system. "A guy walks his whole life, it doesn't mean he doesn't stumble every now and then." Just like how you made a simple mistake and spelled the word BUT as BUTT. Nobody here assumed you ACTUALLY thought that is how you spell the word BUT, we gave you the benefit of the doubt that it was a mistake, something you didn't give to her.

If you honestly believe that the North American education system doesn't require teaching students to count, then you are just a moron. It is in the curriculum from like Grade 2 and onwards in every year. Both Science and Math require a basic knowledge of counting in order to pass so students get years of counting experience.

Even in Social Studies and other courses, the text books are all numbered which means that to find the proper page, you have to have an understanding that page 120 is 20 pages after page 100, and that if you turn to page 130, you have to go back 10 pages. That is basic counting! Don't tell me that kids don't get this knowledge from the public education system. That is a lie!

Idiot.

Despite they cant count they also f*ck up my orders everytime. Cant remember the last time i went home and found out i got exactly what i ordered and paid for...

What do you usually order? I have never gotten the wrong order from McDonalds and I go 3-4 times per month and I used to go every single day of my life for 2 years. Maybe the management does a poor job of training their employees at the location you visit. Also consider that the person taking your order is not the person who makes the order. And why don't you check the order before you go home? You would think after the 1st or 2nd time you would learn to do that.

I don't see what you could expect. They work there because they are either, stupid, lazy or both. They don't give a shit if they do a good job, because they get paid like 7 bucks.

Just fuck off already. Not all McDonalds employees are stupid and lazy.

How many of YOU have accomplished something as great as that?

What you consider easy might be hard for someone else, but what I consider easy you might consider difficult. Who cares if someone can do a math equation? What will that math equation benefit me in my life? If I have the choice between knowing how to cook a delicious hamburger or know how to solve a math equation, the answer is simple for me.

If I gave you all the parts and tools needed to build a car, do you think you could do it?
Do you think more than 1% of the USA could do it? Plenty of people who you would consider morons could do it. Aren't you smarter than a moron?

"...But i did not know that there was so many uneducated stupid persons living in america..."

You make it sound like there are only stupid people living in America...wake up..they're all over the world!

"...I'll hand you a pocketful of pennies and if you've got a problem with that, go get your manager. I'd be happy to explain to each of you that it actually is United States currency valued at the amount requested for the items purchased....

Wake up dude...a business does NOT have to accepted unrolled change as 'legal payment'...

As a side reference...try walking into any bank with $9.00 dollars in Quarters and try and deposit it....and tell me if the bank will allow it!

"...They work there because they are either, stupid, lazy or both...

WTF dude? Do you know how many people in this country are unemployed and will take work WHEREVER they can get it?

Shit..I applied at a McD's about a year ago because in the small town I moved to w/my fiance', it was the only job in town...but most of the high school kids got hired over me...and I'm neither stupid nor lazy...just someone who will do anything, within the law of course, to make money to support my family! I'm no different then that CEO who got laid off and then went to work delivering pizzas...so take your presumptuous ass and STFU!

As for all the other phucking 'retards' who call those who work in the fast-food industry 'stupid', 'retarded' or 'both'...how about YOU work just ONE DAY in their shoes and see how YOU like being treated by people JUST LIKE YOURSELF!

I'd bet my life you couldn't take it for even 1/2 a day!!

And before YOU call someone else 'stupid', you better know the difference between 'their' and 'there'...'butt' vs but'...and know when to insert a &*$% Damn PARAGRAPH BREAK!

"...I didn't insult a girl for making a simple mistake i instead noted her attitude, her accusation that i shorted her and not acknowledging her mistake..

I'm sorry, but do you walk on water?

NO...You don't, therefore to ASSume that you do and then point out that others can't seems pretty childish if you ask me!

NOTE: Yes, I know the first three (3) letters are CAPITALIZED..but I did that for a reason...see if you can figure out why!

Hell, just today, I was in line at Safeway and this lady wrote out a CHECK for her groceries while in the 'express lane'...A CHECK...I was like..

"WTF? Can't she just swipe her debit card, enter the amount into her ledger and be done with this?"

Yeah..I thought that...but at the same time, I let the urge go to come home and make/create a post about such a phucking trivial thing on a blackhat marketing forum!

"...it does have a reflection on education because if people were taught properly how to count money they could count it simple amounts in no times..

Again, it has NO BEARING on Education...If you walked up to me and asked for "change", at a point in the day when I had already been on my feet for over 8 hours, had every single 'hick' make a disgusting remark about the speed in which they were served, being ordered around by a numb-knowing manager who only got the job over me because they like to have their nose colored brown all day, you better bet your ass I'd give you an attitude for dropping a sh** load of change on my lap for a meal that your sorry ass could have just handed me your ATM card and be done with it..matter of fact, the time it would have taken to run your ATM card through the system would have taken even less time then me or anyone else for that matter to count your pathetic change!

This post and the replies to it only perpetuate the stereotypical attitude that most people have in this world, and that is...you will always find a way and/or a reason to bitch about someone else and bring them down in order to make yourself look superior, yet in the long-run, you are just as stupid as the person/people you originally took a sh** on!

Karma...what goes around, comes around..and we're all due ours at some point in life!

Actually people in the auto industry don't really build an entire car. Just put a few parts on it,and help it guide it down the assembly line where machines do most of the work.
@xbox
What is the point of those questions when in Real Life, no one is going to need to know the answer to a math question like 4-2x=-4

Actually people in the auto industry don't really build an entire car. Just put a few parts on it,and help it guide it down the assembly line where machines do most of the work.

Never said anything about the auto industry. I have known many men who didn't get the PRIVILEGE of going to public school because their parents made them work in their farms or collect cans for money etc who can put a vehicle together with their hands given all the parts and tools. They know all the wiring and how to fit all of the pieces together to make it run like it was straight out of the factory. And they didn't learn it in a school.

People just need to have more respect for other peoples chosen jobs. You have no idea anything about them. Its a complete generalization and is totally uncalled for. There is a reason a lot of people in Fast Food seem like assholes and that is because they hate their jobs. But they would rather be productive members of society than on welfare and good on them. Maybe if everyone was a lot more polite to regular working folks, they would get better service.

When I work a regular 9-5 grunt job, I do not dedicate all my brain power to every customer. I usually have my mind focused on 10 different things. I try to be polite, but if you give me a reason to, you best believe I will purposely mess your shit up to make your life harder. What goes around comes back around.

My last job I worked for 1.5 years was customer service call center, and about 30% of the people were genuinely nice people and they got the best service and ALWAYS hung up happy with a smile on their face and their problem or questions promptly solved and you could TELL they were happy to have spoken to me. The other 70% who gave me attitude got it right back at them and did not enjoy their time with me and most simply hung up.

Even when I do feel that I get bad service, I don't complain to the manager, I don't take it out on the employee, I just say to myself "Hmm, that wasn't good, I wonder why that was. Oh well I will get over it, hopefully she was just having a bad day or made a mistake."

If I got the wrong food item, I would eat it anyways. If its truly something I don't want, I just quietly say "Ohh, I think I got the wrong thing, sorry. I was wanting a Double Cheeseburger. Sorry..." and they would correct it no problem.

How do you think it makes someone who works at McDonalds feel to come on here and read this shit about them? You think it makes them want to give you good service, or stick their fingers in their ass before they make your food? Think about that. If people know that they are truly valued and appreciated, they will dedicate more time and energy into providing you better service. If they feel like you think they are stupid, they will use that attitude while serving you.

I also don't give people at fast food restaurants a problem,id rather take a wrong item then complain about it

Actually people that can repair cars are very smart, its just their smart at repairing cars. They should be given more respect. Computer repair persons are consider smart by the general public, why not auto mechanics.
