The reason cpa networks approve affiliates with free traffic so that they can shave you without you making a lot of noise which makes perfect sense.
Not saying in context of maxbounty but in general.

I am experiencing the same and thats why I will soon make my own offers just to check if the conversion rate will be higher or not.

In reality you should just go direct once you have leads under your belt. or at least make sure maxbounty is getting it direct. there are tools out there that check redirects that can do this for you
