Matt Says no SEO AT ALL

We want people doing white hat search engine optimization (or even no search engine optimization at all) to be free to focus on creating amazing blah blah blah

You people scare easily...you will never make it in IM at this rate hahaha

This is all he is saying. He "wants" it. Not that they are doing it. They don't have an algo that can judge "quality" or "amazing" content hahah think about the A.I behind that. He is stating a goal that most likely will not be reached our lifetime....

Content is still king but I'm assuming that a website's bounce rate is is what will really matter (high bounce rate = non engaging website).

I'm giving up on SEO... just fuck it. It's not worth the pain anymore.

You are probably not the first and will definitely not be the last to drop out. I expect a lot of people will be leaving the seo/im field this year.

I'm thinking the same, main site 100% unique and white hat completely wiped out.I have several sites with shite fiverr gigs and crap content stayed or increased last night. Whats the point???

The point is to make money.

Adapt or die guys adapt or die......

The statement is just to scare webmaster. I doubt if we can rank only on the HQ content. I have made a website last week with great content and no backlinking is done; and I am yet to see it under 100. If it does not come to first page in a week time, I will do seo in my way and will see to it if it just remains the same or improves in serp.

That is very true. If we don't do any kind of SEO, a page will just never come to the top. Nobody will ever find out about that content. Most natural webmasters who know nothing about SEO have already given up I guess. And if we do SEO to rank, google says NO. So I really don't understand what google wants here......

Of course SEO isn't dead. G says these things to make people quit SEO and to make people think that their results are better than they really are

yeah .... No SEO My Ass ... :D
4 hours ago I uploaded a video to youtube with Keyword in Title, Description, and tags. About 5 minutes after I uploaded the vid, I tried to check my position of my video with the keyword. And Guess what ? It was on Page 2 of about 6,950,000 results. I think it's impossible to rank that fast with NO SEO. :D

It seems that these updates are happening more and more frequently.

Tom

I only had web 2.0s and bookmarks in the first tier, like everyone has been saying we should be doing. The web 2.0s were an article written by me, spun to be unique, but i took my time spinning, making sure it still reads well. No junk spun crap. Having said this, half of my sites have dropped... I have about a third of my normal traffic to this point so far today....

I believe they are talking about offsite SEO, I dont see them taking away onsite SEO....

yea, seo is never will die its been around since 1999, so for some to say seo is dead is bullshit, get back to work and really figure out whats going to work and keep at it. This is nothing you can just learn and go do, you have to continue to learn

honestly i wouldn't give a shit if backlinking didn't count anymore. if all i had to do was regularly update my site with quality content to stay ranked that would be fine. but we know that's bullshit. if 50 sites have quality content how the fuck do you choose which ranks #1? they have to rank it somehow besides quality content.

Actually there are many websites that have done no SEO so to speak. They've never run linking campaigns, never used blackhat methods or tools. Here's a few:

Google.com
Youtube
Amazon
eBay
Facebook
Twitter
BBC.co.uk
CNN
Fiverr!

and there are tons more.

These sites became massive due to word of mouth and others sites linking to them naturally. Unfortunately Mr Cutts and his merry men expect the rest of the Internet to work the same way. But he told everyone that they rank every site by the links pointing in. Which lit the flames of blackhat SEO and every man and his dog has been firing links at their sites in every way possible ever since.

In the perfect world the search results would be filled with sites that are naturally popular with great content. But we don't live in a perfect world and Mr Cutts doesn't seem to realize that and nothing he or G do will stop us ranking sites. Seriously, because of the way they rank sites, Google can't win. We will also build more links, more content and find more methods than the average Joe or corporation. And that is really pissing Google off!

G could kill SEO tomorrow if they turn off inbound links as a factor. Wouldn't that be fun! Sites ranking on content only. It would never work and will never happen. So link building is here to stay.

Hey Google, go back to manually verified directories or let us control your search results!

why is everything so complicated?

Because if it were simple then every idiot on this forum would rank well for fuck-knows-what keywords and this forum would be totally empty of cry-babies and thus pretty dead.

Survival of the fittest, if you can't cut it then get the fuck out of the way. Sell your sites to me and go get a job flipping burgers.

I am trying to see if there is an algo that ties web 2.0 to the money site and penalizes it... are you putting an extra random link to some other site in your web2.0 article or doing a one-to-one link?

The funny thing about Google and SEO, is that no matter what Matt says, SEO remains the same.

I cant count the number of algorithmic changes Google did during the last 2 years, all it does is slight rebalancing - some of your sites go up, some of them go down. Google invests millions in a war lost apriori, SEO, actually didn't change much over the years, its still about content and backlinks. They can do reweighting of backlinks as much as they like, but they cant change the heart of their algorithm, which is built upon the idea of backlinks.

White hat people like to make science out of SEO, and Matt likes to feel that he is a chief engineer of that science. But the truth is that backlink spam is the only science there is, and it will never change until a new player on SE market will change the fundamental rules.

We want people doing white hat search engine optimization (or even no search engine optimization at all) to be free to focus on creating amazing, compelling web sites. As always, we'll keep our ears open for feedback on ways to iterate and improve our ranking algorithms toward that goal.

What they are trying to do. They killed my business just in a single day. :(

*googling for matt.........*
AAAAAA Matt is someone from Google, good for him. SEO is dead? I'm hearing this sh1t for the last 5 or 6 years (maybe longer), don't believe all the crap you hear, and hell never trust Google. I can tell you SEO is not dead and will not die for the next years. (you can trust me, i'm not from Google ;-))
