Am looking for the major social network sites that people may want to syndicate content from to other sites

So far I have

* twitter (via 3rd party)
* facebook
* youtube
* wordpress
* pinterest
* imgur
* tumblr

are there any other major ones? Am not looking for a list of any and everything, just big sites, with lots of content that people would want to syndicate

Use this sites with unique content and be regular on these social networking site. Reddit can give you lots of traffic if you have interesting content to post in comment or submit link. StumbleUpon is also one of the best traffic source social network. You just need to post interesting stuff.

Flipboard is a network somewhat similar to Pinterest but with more focus on newsworthy posts than on DIY and crafts. Mostly mobile traffic but also has a web version. From what I know they have over 70 million users (not sure how many active) but these numbers aren't very recent - haven't checked in a while.

You can also consider some very popular related forums. Yahoo groups and wiki pages may be helpful too.
