I am trying to make a wordpress dropshipping store and I am a total noob to website building
Wordpress is way more confusing than I thought it was going to be lol

What even is robots.txt, what does it do and were can I find it?

Does anyone have theme + plugin recommendations for building a simple responsive store?

How do I embed mail chimp forms into my website? (I have a plugin called maintenance mode and I want to put in my own mail chimp sign up box instead of the default one)

Are there any good guides to this?

SEO built in your website + SEO in general? (seems like a whole other problem)

Just from screwing around in inspector I think I understand the basics of html and css
Im pretty good with computer stuff, but this is something totally different
Anyone willing to help me out a little bit?

Ive looked on youtube, but its hard finding good tutorials for what I am looking for. Most of the videos are like 12 minutes long and don't really explain much
I'll check out Udemy and see what I can find

Im pretty confident I can learn how to build a website its just going to take a lot of time and effort. Also if I can learn how to do it I will have that skill for the future. After I make one website making the next one will only be easier.

Can someone explain to me what robot.txt is thought because that's my current problem
All help is appreciated

Yeah I am a total noob to website stuff, but I learn fast.
I don't know how much I can trust someone with my website stuff though because I don't really know anything about it.
If that makes any sense

Robots.txt is a powerful tool for SEO. As YOAST (SEO guru) says: "It allows you to deny search engines access to certain files and folders, but that's very often not what you want to do." I would recommend that you do not edit this file unless you know what you are doing. You can use the wordpress yoast SEO plugin which makes seo a lot easier. However you still need basic knowledge.

I have been working with wordpress for years and can recommend which theme/plugins you better use but it would be hard to set them up properly due to the fact that you are a total beginner.

This is the best option unless you are not in a hurry and want to learn during your journey. What you should know for sure is that a website has a lot of different tasks needed to be performed and work simultaneously in order to operate really well.

Alright thanks for the advice. I think I am just going to try and find some videos or something explaining the basics of how websites work and then possibly try to find something on fiverr
Another total noob question. How do I fix this? Apparently my site is not so mobile friendly yet lol

Unfortunately there is not a straightforward answer to your question. What you will find out during building websites is that troubleshooting is the most time consuming thing during the process. Many different factors can cause the exact same problem. As you already know google is your best friend and I would also recommend to seek for help on wordpress(dot)stackexchange(dot)com which is a community dedicated on helping and receiving help about wordpress. Just be careful - getting other people to do your job is not much appreciated there... they will help you a lot by guiding you and in most cases they will not give you a piece of code ready to use. Learning is the objective.

Good luck!

Yeah I figured it out pretty quick. I had the "Discourage search engines from indexing this site" box checked lmao. I got a course udemy that has like 20 hours worth of wordpress tutorials so I should be set for a little while.
