Looking for Advice: How to Optimize Website Loading Time

Hi BHW,

My affiliate website's loading times are starting to slow down as I add more and more posts, and I was wondering what are your tips on keeping it as quick as possible.

Some information about my site:
  • I'm running a AdSense on it (on autoads, maybe there are too much loading at the same time).
  • I'm using several plugins, here's the list (maybe some of them are redundant, please advise):
    • a3 Lazy Load
    • Autoptimize
    • Facebook Widget
    • Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP)
    • Google Analytics for WordPress by MonsterInsights
    • Google XML Sitemaps
    • Instagram Feed
    • Really Simple SSL
    • Smush
    • Social Warfare
    • WP Fastest Cache
    • Yoast SEO
  • Here are the performance metrics using Google Lighthouse:
    • First Contentful Paint: 2.9 s
    • Speed Index: 9.3 s
    • Time to Interactive: 11.8 s
    • First Meaningful Paint: 3.4 s
    • First CPU Idle: 5.6 s
    • Estimated Input Latency: 10 ms
I tried several things, and it still takes about 12 seconds for a complete mobile interactive load. Should I use a CDN for my images? And how do I go about doing that? Any suggestions?

Start with unistalling this, if users want to they can come to like from basic icons for socials. Also, sitemap has Yoast already integrated.

  • Facebook Widget
  • Google Analytics Dashboard for WP (GADWP)

    Google XML Sitemaps
  • Instagram FeedReally Simple SSL

Nice, I didn't know about GTMetrix, thank you for showing me it. I'll check out their recommendations.

It would be more useful if you posted your hosting setup rather than WordPress plugins. You should have optimised hosting with Nginx, latest PHP version and server-side caching. What's your hosting budget?
 
What's the time to first byte? Maybe your host is slow.

Get a caching plugin, either W3 Total Cache or WP Rocket (I prefer the latter because it's straightforward).

Use a CDN to serve static files faster.

Keep plugins to a minimum. You don't really need Monster Insights when you can insert GA code yourself.

Test, test, test with GTmetrix and Pingdom.

use gzip compression via htaccess and also use some kind of CDn it will energize your speed more furthermore try to use some image optimization plugin or do manually if you able to do
 
You can enable Gzip compression directly from Cpanel. Look for something like "Website Optimization".

If you've money to spare get WP Rocket, it will solve most of the problems.

If you can't, get something like Autoptimize.

Optimize images using WP Smush or manually through Tinypng.com
 
Before optimizing everything mentioned here, make sure your host isn't the issue!

The recommended tweaks to your setting, cdn, cache, etc can only do so much.
 
Enable gzip as per the image you uploaded then set up a cookie less subdomain and move all your images to it. Throw your images through tinypng and reupload them.

You need to look at the load in a bit more detailed and see what the hang up is and where if your loading in social cards that could be one part of it. Or a plugin causing some issues for you.

Please see the picture, as I can't type out url-like keywords due to having less than 15 posts on this forum.

Where do I change that and what would be the best practice?

Anyone? I'm still struggling with this :(
 
Not sure what the issue is its a redirect from http to https. Its acceptable and there is no way to definitively state https only as a secure service via dns or any other method a redirect is currently the only acceptable format so your always going to get a 301 from http to https.

As for post count you need to contribute to increase your post count no work around.
