LF- Advice on reselling services

Hello BHW,

Today I got an offer from a web development and design company about hiring me as a freelancer, with a 20% commission per sale. Sounds good to me but the catch is that they want me to call clients to "close more sales". They provide a business email and a phone app which I can call potential clients.

I asked them if I could market them on social media or maybe create a website and get an affiliate link, which they replied that's fine but that it haven't really worked for them so far and outreach sales works better for them.

My question are

1. Would it be possible to resell their services anywhere around the internet like upwork, freelancer etc? If yes1.1

1.1. Should I tell them about it? Tell them about reselling, not the source of the reselling

2. Is it really as hard as they claim to market web development/design and graphic design on the internet?

As I'm currently at work, I can't really concentrate to have more questions but for sure they'll come once I'm home.

Any reply to these questions would be really appreciated!

1. Possible? Yes. Easy? Not at all. Also, they can see the referer, so whether you tell them the source or not, it doesn't matter. Why wouldn't you tell them? They'd get more business out of it.

2. It's very competitive and it's probably easier for them to pitch their business than you, especially since it appears that you know very little about the said market.

1. I guess it is not easy because of the competition? Also, I was thinking of taking orders myself and paying them to make a website instead of using their referral link but I guess it's shady? Sorry, I'm an extreme noob who has only been reading BHW and haven't take any action yet on the stuff I read in here, I've just learnt them theoretically.

2. True that, this was my exact response to them, was looking for a second opinion

1. It's not shady. The only problem is, if you decide to resell a service - YOU have to handle the customers, refund them if they're not satisfied (even if the company you buy the service from doesn't issue a refund) and provide them with the info they need to make a decision (once more, it's gonna be hard if you know little about it). The upside is that you can cut yourself in for as much as you want. This is basically the debate: e-commerce vs affiliate marketing. In my opinion, someone who is new will have a much easier time with affiliate marketing than with e-commerce. Customers can be a pain and if you have to bounce every question and demand with the supplier, you're in for a bad time.

For sure it's damn hard to market all this services via the web, what you are even thinking about before proposing this plan ? They do provide more usual and successfull case anyway. Thanks for that matter really. How do you plan to go with me ?
