There is a totally free course from Udacity that you can complete in your own time. It's taught by Steve Huffman (of Reddit!) and covers everything involved in getting a web application running online.

If you complete the course - which should take about 7 weeks (depending upon how long you spend on each unit) - you will be awarded a certificate and you'll have a working web app online.

This course does assume a working knowledge of Python. Steve teaches how to use the GAE Framework with Python to develop a web app. If you're new to programming you can try the intro CS101 course instead, where they teach you to build a search engine (also with Python).

Cool deal, I've been learning python for a week or so now and it's great. I don't know how to make money with it though.

You could try building your own website with it.

There's other sites you can use. I personally have used codeacademy recently and it's an amazing tool to get yourself started.
Also, w3schools is a great resource as well. :p

I can also use WP for my sites. What I mean is what can python do in the IM world? CAn it make standalone programs, can it automate something, can it make scraper programs? If it can't do that stuff, I really don't want to waste my time with it.

Long Banana, what do you think a good foundation of knowledge would be for a web developer? HTML, CSS, Php and my sql? Is understanding those good enough to get a $60,000 a year job?

Udacity always has quality content from what I've seen.

Awesome deal indeed! Will try to get into some of their courses. Thanks for sharing!
