I haven't seen this discussed specifically as a thread so thought I'd post it. Apparently a new update came out on Instagram and they're doing mass blocks on accounts that appear suspicious to them. This of course includes users who have never automated or were involved in any sort of growth hacking.

Personally I run two accounts both of which have follow blocks since the beginning of June (16 days block so far). But I can browse, chat with people, etc...
Depending on what kind of block it is, users can get comment blocks, like blocks, follow and unfollow blocks.

Has anyone else encountered this?
Do you have any suggestions or information? I personally do use follow/unfollow, and another fellow marketer suggested the limit is now 6,000 max follow per Month. Haven't seen any evidence to support the 6k limit yet.

It appears that they added limits on all accounts. If an account passes that accounts specific 30 day limit it will get blocked. This limit is not a straightforward 6000/30. The limit is account specific derived from many criterias which one of them appearing to be the subnet that accounts running on (from the report written by IG and University of California).

How many follows were your 2 accounts doing per day?

400 follows/day on one
600 follows/day on second.

I guess now that we see a general 6k consensus I should lower it to just under 200/day

You should calculate the amount of follows you've done in the last 30 days and then see at what point you get unblocked. This way you see the exact limit the account has.
