Prologue

Hello.

After lurking around the BHW for a while I decided to finally take the much needed action. I wanted to join by creating an account and just start trying atleast SOMETHING! So let's do it.

Introduction

My name is Tom. Around a month ago I turned 18 years old. Born, raised and currently living in one of the Eastern European countires. I live in a small city (probably village by US standarts) and still with my parents. I am a highschool drop-out and have a fulltime job (8 hrs/day, Mo-Fr).

I have and always had huge dreams and goals I wanted to achieve.

My biggest problem was always lack of execution ...simply put, I am lazy as f*ck. Which can actually be a good trait. If I manage to kick myself to work, I work smart. It can be good servant but bad master. However we all know that.

By the way, can't help my self, I'm a huge petrolhead, so if I ever need some motivation, there's tons of it in every dealership around. :D

What is the point of this journey?

Very simple. To finally force myself to get the hell up and start actually doing all the things I ever wanted to do. All the things I was talking about doing. All the things to move myself from where I am now to where I want to be in the future! And hopefully motivate others to do the same.

Let's actually call this my success journal... sounds good to me. I did not want to focus this post/journey on one method, I wanted to document a life change.

My journey plan

Now what I am actually going to do to change my life?

Based on my previous life "experience" I believe that in order to stay successful over a long period of time, you have to have a solid foundation. So that's exactly what I want to work on. Solid foundation is based on quality habits that you repeat everyday.

My goals for habits:

  • GYM - 6x times a week for 1 - 1.5 hour/day. // I was always a skinny kid, then I started excercising, got bigger and felt the difference. Even now, when I lift I am more productive, steam off anger, frustration, etc.. and lay a solid foundation for my future self. I have troubles to stay persistent, but when I get back from gym I am always happy that I went there. So the goal is to keep up 6x times a week. (that alone is going to do a lot in year)
  • Coldshowers 2x times/day. // Again, another thing that I tried in the past and it worked wonders. Few of the many benefits are that it helps to build stronger willpower and immunity. Both are useful. Great in the long run.
  • Early to bed and early to rise. // Unfortunately I have not yet figured a way to eliminate sleeping whatsoever (just imagine that) so I have to fit 6-8 hours of sleep into every 24 hours to stay productive and alive in the long run. Especially at my age, I believe sleep is still very important. That leaves me with 16-18 awake hours which I have to make as productive as possible. Again, based on my personal experiece, even though naturally I seem to be more of a night owl, I get absolutely unproductive and tired after 10 - 11PM. On the other hand when I get up early (4-5AM) productivity and energy is on another level. That unfortunately doesn't leave me with much options. Again, awesome in the long run if taken proper advantage of.
  • Stop wasting time! Stop procrastination. // I was just recently thinking about the fact that in approximately 22 years, I will be 40 years old. Time flies, I remember 10 years back like it was few months. This got me thinking that I should probably start valuing my precious time more, way more than I did until now. And finally start using it in my favor. So I don't regret not taking action later in my life.

Now, only maintaining these habits won't change my life by itself, but they are going to help me get better use of my mind and body to work in harmony to achieve exactly what I want.

My study goals:

  • Work on my English // I have to constantly improve to get better, my big goal for this year (until April 2019) is to get to C1 level and work especially on my grammar and speaking. Also I need bigger vocabulary. I consider languages very important, I would never be able to find BHW for example if I would not learn English earlier.
  • Learn German // I know only absolute rock bottom of this language, my goal for the following year is to be able speak, write and read in german on the fly.
  • Study, learn and understand business, IM, finance, economy and so on.

I don't like the school system, I actually hate school. You absolutely don't need a degree to be sucessful. However it is very imporant to keep studying and learning more information by yourself. Don't ever stop learning!

Lets finally talk money:

As I already said I have a full time job. My current paycheck is around $830/month (to my account) already AFTER taxes and mandatory insurance. (~ $1100 before)

Solid in my area (small city), especially considering my age (experience), type of work and the fact that I have basically almost ZERO expenses for now.

My goal is to stay in this job until I can support my self out of my business/es.
I am not limiting myself just to IM, I obviously want to try other business projects aswell.

  • My first "bigger" goal is to earn atleast about $800 monthly from my projects, effectively doubling my income to $1600/month. (about average paycheck here before taxes and mandatory insurance)
  • I need to reach about $2500/month and more to be able to comfortably move out of parent's house and move to the capital city. I am hoping to reach this goal in not more than few months from now...

Summary

I am going to sit down tomorrow and implement my habits, then think through my business plan and start working.

I will update this thread monthy with quick writeup detailing my progress.

Thank you for reading,
see you next month

(approx. May 17-19th)

Good luck OP And thanks for taking me 30'years back

Good luck OP, but it's sad that you will update this tread only once a month. I would recommend that you do it every sunday, then you might form a habit to update us. Once a month might be forgotten soon .

Good Luck Mate

Thank you very much for the encouragement guys! Means a lot. So what happed after a month? Did not forgot about you BHW, but almost forgot my password. I will maybe update more frequently once I will have more business activity to report on.

Month 1 summary

Habits are harder to form than they might initially seem.
Long story short: I am now frequent gym-goer again, altought I have yet to keep up 6 days a week like a proposed in my plan.
Every shower I have, I finish with proper, all the way cold one. Feels good, I can feel the difference. Wakes you up and also helps you sleep at night. (not even talking about the willpower it takes to turn it all the way :D)

Early to bed and especially early to rise is the one I still have troubles with, hopefully I will be able to sort these out this month.

I also tried putting some time into improving my english, it feels like it's paying of already.

What I totally kicked in the ass is procrastination, although it's not like it never happens anymore, I kind of value my time way more, if that makes any sense. And I find myself doing tons of things that needed to be done and I was just putting them aside all the time. Makes a huge difference, I can already see the amounts of time I used waste by doing nothing... and it is insane.

Business/money wise, next week I should get my business licence (something like ltd to your name) and tax number to start legally recieving and paying money as a business. (we have quite strict business environment here, I wanna go white hat at least regarding taxes) I have few business plans lined up, so 2nd month of my journey should be all in the name of starting the money machine.

By the way, I also successfully passed a driving licence required to legally tow heavy trailers behind car. I might be able to monetize this too.

Finance this montht

I made about $650 net from my job.
Spent about $370 to pay off a little debt I had.

All in all I am pretty happy with how is this little experiment going so far, it is a long term success journey after all. I am after bigger goals then $1 a day anyway.
Have a successful and wonderful month! See you later aligator

Keep it up. So many key points from your story match with mine:
- Eastern European
- Young
- Zero expenses (living with parents)
- Ambitious
- Has the same problem when it comes to forcing myself a habit.

Good luck! Following this thread!
