[JOURNEY] Amazon KDP for Extra Cash

Can you share some tips on how you hired your writer? Good luck with your journey.

Wow good luck with your journey, I will be subscribing and following you, I'm doing the same but writing all the content and in the non-fiction category

Hey, sure no problem. Honestly I just posted on the freelance sites. I made it clear I was looking for native English writers. I still had to sift through the rubbish to find a few really good applicants but I was surprised by the quality of them. They had solid ratings and showed me some examples and I hired them.

wish you the best luck man and looking forward to your journey :)

Day 3

Hired writer yesterday. Today I worked with my graphics guy to get the 4 book covers done. They look absolutely dynamite and ready for the bookshelf. I just want to have everything set up and ready to go for when I receive the actual content.

I got scriviner and played around with some dummy content. Was able to get formatting and table of contents figured out.

Spent today: $0 (graphics pro-bono)
Earned today: $0
Total:-$160
Knowledge acquired: priceless

Hey, first: good luck with your journey. It looks promising so far!

Would you mind sharing a little bit about how you came up with the story for your books?
Did you just made up a plot for 4 books and gave the author an outline? Have you any experience of writing fiction? What's your background for this?

The whole "i just plug a story together in 20 minutes and my author does the rest" seems a little to easy for me.

Honestly, I wrote the story arc for the first books in about 15 mins. I then split the story up and wrote about 2 or 3 sentences to describe each book and sent it to the author. I am expecting the first book within a few days so I will let you know how it turns out. The examples that they sent over were extremely impressive.

I have no experience writing fiction, but I would consider myself creative. It really is easy tho! Think of something you'd want to see/read and write out a plot!

Awesome thread. I've been reading a lot of Romance/Erotica info lately and want to break into this market. Still in the 9-5 atm so can't go all in without some freelancer help. Will be following and looking forward to updates

Very impressive. How long of a book is it?

Just wanted to update this thread. Some great things happening with my first book!

On my free day I had 200+ downloads which got me to number 20 in the free charts of the category! Then luckily, I received book 2 from my author and uploaded it. I've gotten 5 unlimited purchases and a 2 regular purchases. Honestly I think this can work. I won't find out how much I get from the kindle unlimited purchases until next month as they have to add up their royalties.

I've been updating my pen name's blogs and social accounts and hopefully that will build a little bit with these books being released.

Total Spent: $160
Total Earned: $4.16

Stay tuned!

Expect some 1 and 2 star reviews for the length of the books. Romance readers don't like short books. Even if you combined all 4 into one book it would still be short as hell.

For your next series, you should upload the first book to Apple, Google, Kobo etc using draft2digital.com. That way you can make it free permanently, which causes a funnel into the rest of the series. Make book two $.99, then 3 and 4 $2.99.

Not trying to piss in your cheerios, just letting you know.

Good luck!

I'm amazed people will write 8000 words for $40, that is just amazing. How long does it take them to write that much?

how is everything now? any update?
looking forward to know about the latest status since I have interest in kdp as well

Sorry for the lack of updates as I've been traveling quite a bit recently! I've released two books now. Something I find interesting is that over 500 people have downloaded my book but I have zero reviews. I think that is probably holding people back from purchasing. I've started to ramp up my social media accounts recently which has resulted in about a sale a day over the last week. I'm basically building up my twitter account right now and have gotten up to about 1k followers.

I will be updating more consistently now that my schedule has freed up a bit.

Total Spent: $160
Total Earned: $30.24

good luck.. best of luck.. I want to know how to you get on :)

Oh and to add.. Maybe to get some reviews, somehow give an intensive? Ask them to review your book in return for something?

Thanks! I've been thinking about that... just not sure what to offer as incentive.
