Is there anyway to skip/bypass ISP's speed limit?

My ISP offers 40GB package for 40$ per month (16mbps) & after reaching that limit, My speed is reducing to 5kbps. With that low speed, I'm allowed to download anything and they don't charge for it. Is there anyway to bypass this 5kbps limit? (I posted this now because until last month, after I reaching the limit, I only have to turn on and off my router for few times and speed is comming back. Now that trick is not working. :yell:

Uh...get an unlimited package? seriously, you think its possible to get full speed when you're already past the limit? that's just dumb.

as I said, until last month, after reaching the limit, I turn on/off my router few times and the speed is comming back. now it's not working
 
change ISP who offer unlimited bandwith. looks like you use modem for mobile.
 
i'm afraid there's no trick, if you reach the 40 GB, you cannot do anything, however until you reach it, you can try to optimize your traffic, use adblock where you can, so those annoying flash ads won't add towards the 40 GB or for instance in chrome there's a data compression option, at least on mobile, which can save you several MBs, maybe GBs

if you reach the 40 GB, you're pretty much fucked for the rest of the billing cycle

but why are you paying rape prices?
i'm using 2 connections, both are ~20 Mbit/5 Mbit, one is a cable which has unlimited data plan, the other one is a 4G/LTE mobile broadband with 30 GB daytime + 100 GB at night traffic plan, if i reach that, they limit to 32/32 kbps, but even then they don't limit certain sites at all or emailing for instance
both cost ~$18/month

my point is: maybe you want to switch to another provider, if that's an option

This is wired broadband. There is no unlimited in our country. If there is no trick, why until last month that router trick worked?

because they were dumber and now they're a month smarter as you can see, i also remember doing something similar using a mobile broadband with limited data plan maybe 10 years ago, when this whole mobile internet thing was pretty new and only a few ppl used it at least where i live, i just disconnected/reconnected and the limit was gone, now that's worked for a few months, maybe a year, but they eventually caught up to it and it ceased to work from that point and that's exactly the stage - where you're also at atm - where you're pretty much fucked
 
If you get a vps and set it to 8 bit colors, you can lower bandwidth usage on your home connection by using it for the bandwidth intensive stuff.

I think OP just need to find the way to bypass his/her ISP. And, it is impossible. Switching router or kind of is just some fortune because of a little of bug from ISP but it is rarely happened.

For the price of 100GB with $500/m, I don't think it's true.

Even me, I live in a poor small country in SE Asia, internet price are not that bad.
 
Your case sounds worse than Virgin media UK. They love to kill bandwidth, too, but at least they don't restrict DL limits.
They advertise unlimited traffic, which is a similar lie to unlimited space on hosting, lol.
Can you get a vps and use that as VPN/Socket proxy? That would be somewhat faster

Home - 30GB Peak & 10GB off peak - 50$ 16mbps
Web Professional - 100GB - 60$ 8mbps
Heavy User - 400GB - 200$ 8mbps
Web life user - 500GB 16mbps

After reaching the limit, you can buy extra GB for 3$ per GB.
