Is it a bad idea to start an Amazon affiliate website now?

At least "it includes bonus" :D :D
Good ole Amazon.

This is my report from one of my sites from yesterday;

Not bad, at first impression especially as it's all pure organic traffic from SEO rankings.

Then you see people have ordered A red onion and other bits of groceries, plus a couple of 0% items.

You don't know to laugh or cry some days.

Amazon proved that they are ruthless and will do anything for profits. So, it's not something worth investing money & time. If you're not concerned about a specific niche, then I'd suggest to stay away from Amazon. With the same efforts, you can make 3-4 times in other platforms. Go with CPA/PPS/Revenue share options if you have initial investment.

Let me tell you story of a friend. He was making a killing with Amazon and had multiple sites in different niche making good money. With this cut, his income got affected badly. Hee was like crying that he did not spread his work in other methods.

Amazon conversion rate is high compared to other networks. I am in confused state to suggest better alternatives :(
Yes biggest question is that do we have alternatives. I mean some might be paying more but they are not as reputed as Amazon.

Unless you can't find a better affiliate programme to work with. Stay away from Amazon at all cost.

I just started one today. Its more like a learning process for me. How to write good content, how to do SEO so and so. Either I will start earning, or I will learn. Its a win anyway.

This, OP.

Learn how to write articles that serves both readers and search engines well, and how to drive traffic. The rest would follow.

Of course, you need to pick a niche where there are good Amazon affiliate alternatives, but can start with Amazon as they only require 3 approved sales (&TOS respected) while other programs might get you in if you meet higher requirements (xxK pageviews - +xxxk sold)

It's a good idea ONLY IF you are aware that you need to brand and personalize everything so you differentiate yourself from all the competition.
