I saw many low-authority "Wix sites" with few posts ranking in competitive keywords. It seems that Google loves premium platforms (paid and clean). I think WordPress is everywhere and generic.

Website structure and build platforms is matter in SEO.

What's your thought about this?

Yes, weirdly I see many Wix sites being used for parasite purposes. Firstly it was profile pages, now the vector of choice is group pages. There's usually nothing too special about these domains either.

Anecdotally, my sites that have performed worst in the recent batch of Google updates have all been powered by Wordpress. All others on simple homegrown CMSs or plain database generated pages have performed much better. I wonder if the sample sites that G used as training corpus for their HCU all used Wordpress?

I've been saying this for ages now that Google gives good positions for Shopify sites and many of the regular, basic on-page SEO requirements seem not to apply to these sites at all.

You are failing all the core web vitals? Here is the first-page spot for you in a highly competitive niche and no WordPress sites are around.

The same is true with Google sandbox - It seems like there is no sandbox for Shopify sites to begin with.

So I assume this applies to Wix as well although I have personally never worked with Wix sites.

It does make sense. If the website costs $16 a month or more to host, then the owner is more likely to be legit for the simple fact that they are spending that much money. Wordpress sites can be started for almost free, so I'm sure the percentage 'bad' wordpress sites are much higher than wix or Shopify.

Just this graph alone tells you that they cant prioritize one CMS of another. Core web vitals are not that great in ranking factor, rather a tie-breaker.

Its the same source, just different breakdown. Of all the websites they found using a CMS, 18% use wordpress. While 27% uses wordpress, which accounts 1/4 of websites in top 100k category uses wordpress.

In top 10k websites, 25% of the websites use wordpress, which is 1 of every 4th website is wordpress.

If someone thinks you can prioritize as a search engine some type of CMS rather than the quality of the content surprises me. Like, i dont have so much trust at Google - but why would they try to prioritize something like CMS? We all know core web vitals is a mere tie-breaker, so it cant be that.

A ranking factor could be longevity, that you have paid your domain the next 5 years or so - but that will only get a initiate ranking boost not longterm. Google sandbox doesnt exist, thin, poorly executed sites with the thought of (i will optimize as I go) are the reason for sandbox.

Also, headless CMS, like sanity - is actually worse for SEO. https://www.onely.com/blog/google-needs-9x-more-time-to-crawl-js-than-html/ here is just one blog of rendering time and indexing time by using Javascript. So if you are running a blog on a javascript site, headless cms, "clean" cms - you are at a disadvantage when updating your content, or producing content.
