I had respect for Google since I stepped into blogging from 2012. In today's trend, Google is releasing updates often to shake the serps. Shaking is good ;) but, it comes with bugs like indexing issue. When we ask this in Google's webmaster forum, they reply that there is no bugs and it is how updates works.

I didn't know whether we're ranking for the LSI keywords. Ranking is going like random without any stability. Nowadays, we're getting more search traffic from Duckduckgo/Bing which compensates the traffic drop from Google.

Next, the above fold in serp is filled with ads. End user thinks that the PPC ad is the solution they are looking for. I'm not complaining about PPC guys here. I'm just giving my opinion from SEO's point of view.

Then, further the serp is populated with "People Also Ask" panel, YouTube, etc. So, it seems like the first 5 organic search results gets some traffic and the remaining 5 are getting few visits. We can forget about the next page serps for traffic. They are called as zombie page serps.

Whatever the platform you use, it is the reality happening for us. Whether you build quality backlinks or not, Google is doing its random activities in algorithmic updates.

Do you guys have any idea where this is going towards? Do you think that the niche and high authority sites can only dominate in near future? Should we move to focus on other search engines? So that we can think that getting traffic from Google is just an additional advantage.

You have to remember that for all the lip service that Google pays towards helping webmasters with SEO, there is no commercial advantage in helping anyone rank. Google makes money from Ads. It doesn't want you to rank from SEO. It wants you to buy Ads.

Okay. I understand. At the same time, Google isn't helping end users to find the exact answer from serps? If yes, the users should search only buyer intent keywords. So, they can buy from PPC ads. Google needs only buyers? It doesn't need normal users who search for information?

i got this from perry marshall three days ago...

On a recent Round-table call, CPA Shanyn Stewart alerted us:

    Google machine-gunned...
    - All firms that offer debt management.
    - All firms that offer credit consolidation.
    - All firms that negotiate with the IRS.
    - All firms that help you deal with late tax payments.

GONE. Eradicated from Google ads... and Google maps... and Google Organic.

On the Big G, they no longer exist.

She has friends spending $40,000. to $50,000. per month, who are now spending... and getting... zero.

The most dangerous number is "1."

A similar thing happened six months ago in Alternative Medicine. Big Pharma and Big Brands are taking over. The little guys got shown the door.

Shanyn is not in trouble, though. Her advertising stool has many legs. She will likely grow from this because she is already highly optimized in other media that her colleagues are just now jumping into.

A major focus of Definitive Traffic Seminar is alternative traffic sources. Smaller platforms that are less restrictive and more hungry for your ad dollars and thus more cooperative. Like Reddit.

I’ve learned this lesson the hard way. I was banned from Facebook for a year, for running an ad that said you could use 80/20 to double your income with half the work. The officials at Facebook deemed I was scamming people and shut me down.

I’ve lost entire keyword categories on Google Organic; I’ve lost entire industries; for example after the 2008 crash, everyone in real estate and mortgages evaporated from the face of the earth. Before that, those guys had been 15% of my biz.

Weebles wobble but they don’t fall down.

When you wake up one morning and one of your traffic sources is wiped out, will you have Lifeblood B and Lifeblood C already in place?

If you leverage Definitive Traffic Seminar to put 5 traffic sources in place, you won’t find yourself in that feverish panicked scramble the way some of Shanyn’s friends are right now.

I agree. We normally ignore a niche which is higly saturated. The over saturated search engine is Google. The behavior of normal users using search engines is changing day by day. They will go where there is no distractions.

Google manages to keep more people on its pages than ever before. I've forgotten the percentage but some ridiculous number of queries don't result in a click to an external site. So it is obviously helping users find what they want more quickly.

Google needs normal users who search for non-buyer intent keywords only because those same users will search later for buyer intent keywords. It wants to get as many people into the routine of using its search engine so that when a user does need to buy something, he is likely to click on an Ad.

I reckon they'll go where they are taken. Buy an Android phone and Google is the default search engine. Use Chrome, and Google is the default search engine. I'm sure other browsers are tied in as well.

Most people don't want to escape the Google ecosphere. Google works well for most users.

Back in the day (and I mean almost 15 year ago now) Google was all about "doing no evil". Ranking was a logical affair and you could see results reasonably quickly.

In 2019, they have shareholders who want to see increased revenue every quarter. IMHO Google are no more or less evil than any other for profit company - messing about with the serps is all part of getting companies to switch to Adwords.
