Why does it matter? Some countries ain't even trying to handle the current situation... The important thing is that people are dying and everyone knows that. What numbers of deaths one country's health ministry reports doesn't help much anyways.

it matters because if other countries knew/still can know the real situation (if China is hiding) then it would help to understand the problem better.

You can't report new cases if you tighten up the restrictions on who is allowed to get tested, and what counts as being "infected".

Data is vital to identify the problem and finding a solution. The statistics serve a purpose more than for us to think "oh look at how many people died".

To be able to fight it, we need to know where it's increasing, decreasing and where most people die and where most people survive. We need to know how many die and how it's spreading to others.

I'm surprised to see a marketer (I assume?) not thinking data matters.
