Hello, everyone.
I have no background in Internet Marketing, but a friend of mine found me reading "Trust Me, I'm Lying" by Ryan Holiday. My friend is a creative type, but it is mostly stories, maybe some art, and he doesn't produce content on a regular schedule. We discussed maybe using IM to give him some brand awareness each time he has something ready to show. We also thought pseudonyms would be a good idea in case things fall through; just dump the pseudonyms and lie low for a while if things go (horribly?) wrong. Ultimately, this seemed like a good starter project, if nothing else.
My plan, based off stories in Ryan Holiday's book, is to create a website and fill it up with some filler content. When my friend has something ready to put up, I could create an article with some incendiary headline and share it on Twitter with some hashtag. After that, if it's cheap enough, pay some service to boost the tweet and see if I can get something trending. In theory, blogs need regular content and will pick up a trending hashtag or tweet, which will link to the article, which will link to my friend's content.
The goal is brand awareness, and after maybe some kind of profitability. Maybe the content will come along with links to a store with branded items, or maybe if my friend builds up enough content, it could get turned into something that can be sold on Amazon, or something to that effect.
Right now, I'm just trying to scout out my options. I don't know if the plan is a good one, what services are reputable to work with, how to get blogs to take the bait, and so on. I'm thinking I need to get some prices, get a list of options and strategies, and so on, then build a serious plan of action and see if it works.
If anyone has advice or thoughts on this, I'd love to know about it. I'm very much a beginner and don't know what the relevant tools and techniques are.
Thank you!
