Instagress...FL Next?!

Instagress had solid IPs which is the Achilles tendon for any social media botting operation. You could log in, buy a month worth of time for like $9 and then just let it run. Completely forget about it and let your account grow. Massplanner is a great piece of software, but you won't get anywhere with shitty proxies. Also Instagress had that nerdy Silicon Valley feel to it's website that so many people love. Visual appeal is huge and they had their target market locked down visually.

Okay, so I guess making a bot/tool yourself would likely require a list of proxies to cycle through. That makes a lot more sense then.

I'm looking at setting up MassPlanner or FollowLiker, but I'm not usually at my computer, so it's usually off. Would it be best to set up a a VPS or a VM so that the software can run while my physical machine is off?

Yes, you must setup a VPS.

Would be interested in hearing some recommended VPS sources from other users.

I setup a free one through Amazon but it was a pain and caused me to go back to Instagress from dealing with issues with it.

Ah okay, yeah I would love to hear of some suggestions. I was reading last night that they are matching your IP's up and seeing if you're logging into the account from different locations. So it would be nice to have a VPS that is local to my city in Australia.

Didn't hear about the IP matching situation but that maybe why I was having an issue logging into the VPS in the past.

Would like to hear recommendations on VPS providers from others....

That isn't how the apps work. Unless ISG wants to disable ALL old versions of the mobile apps, the old versions still work. When they bring out a new version, most people don't update. Old versions of ISG are working from years ago, you don't need to be on the latest version. You are right EVENTUALLY they would stop working, but later is better than now
Great, but i wasn't talking about the app. :)

I was referring to the desktop bots and their updates, which are needed because of the ig updates. E.g. if ig changes something in the login process, it can be that you won't be able to login with your bot anymore without a proper update. If you can't login, needles to say, the bot is toast. Or let's say, you get lucky and ig doesn't touch the login process for a while, but they can still update the scraping, following, liking or commenting processes, so you won't be able to scrape, follow, comment or like. Eventually going forward in time, less and less functions of an unsupported bot will work without updates and will throw up every kind of errors. Moreover in certain cases using an outdated bot can be a risk too for the accounts, which can cause account locks or outright suspensions in extreme cases.

None of these are ig specific, this is generally true for any social media site, especially to those with frequent updates.

You're a dev yourself, so i think you know more than anybody, that how much a software without updates or support worth. :)

Desktop bots are susceptible to updates. If you make your own bot, you can generally make these changes in about 5 minutes if it's a minor front end update and you use jQuery to run the bot logic.

If an API is used, these generally don't change, so an API based bot will not break as often but when they do, it's a pain to get running again.

For an APP, most companies do not sunset versions for a LONG while. I mean I have worked at a few places that were just dropping support for IE7 on desktop. Apps generally live for as long as the API is working the same way. It's hard for a company to willingly drop even a 0.5% revenue share source (assuming they are a large company).

As a complete and total noob with Instagram: I heard about this today. I decided to look into the tool. So does it just go through Instagram and like pictures, follow, unfollow, comment? Seems like a standard bot. Have any of you guys made your own? What is the advantage of using a tool like this, rather than just building one for yourself? Am I missing some key functionality here that makes a home brewed solution less than ideal?
Spend a couple hours reading this forum and you will answer all of your own questions.

shut down and it will come back with a new name... you know the drill.

I dont think they can force followliker because it is a software that would still have access. However, for a bot-free option checkout relaxedsocial.com/

$99 a month? I'd assume these guys just hook your account up to bot software anyway...
