[Instagram] How to get an inactive username? 2016

Hey guys, it's me Akash Patel. First of all this isn't a method for gaining an account, I'm asking a question... I've been searching around for quite some time now. I've this inactive username I really want on Instagram. All the methods I've found are from 2013-2015 are done/not going to work anymore because of the increase in security and whatnot. Anyways.. I was wondering if any of you guys know how to acquire this account. Please don't say hack/crack into it. I want some "Legal" way of acquiring it. I've tried copyright method but they ask for proof.
Anyone have thoughts? ​

I really want to know too!

I would even pay someone that works inside Instagram for an inactive account.
 
Those aren't your account so basically you want to hack/crack them and thats not the "legal" way.
this is 2016 and Instagram is quite secure.
I think the only way for you to contact the owner is by DMing or contacting him via email/kik ( if it is mentioned in the bio ).
 
If you own a business you can always try to request it that why if it's inactive.
 
You can always go the black hat way and send 100s of reports to the account, when it gets taken offline, try to register it. Even IF that worked, which it probably won't, it's the only thing I can think of aside from hacking.

Yeah I'm almost 100% positive this does not work. Works for Twitter though.. hehe..

This obviously wouldn't work even if you succeed in taking the account offline (suspending) the account because last time I checked, both Twitter and Instagram don't allow new registration of a username that was suspended.

Haha, yeah Twitter is a little more flexible with things like that. I was just guiding OP away from hacking. Nothing but trouble.

Normally, but OP doesn't own the name, it's not trademarked by him, so he can't provide proof, hence he's asking.

I can also confirm, that what you said, doesn't work for Twitter, you can't re-register the username of a suspended account. In the past few years Twitter suspended hundreds of accs of mine somewhere in the few thousands range and i can't re-register the usernames, i need to come up with new ones every time.
 
I emailed Instagram and they gave me the username. It wasn't active and I owned a business with the name and a .com domain. I don't have a trademark though.

This is my situation too. There is a dead IG account with the same name as my company's name.

What is the email address to contact for this?
