I'm building the NEXT Facebook!

Your going against a guy who went to Harvard and had his buddies at Harvard help help code Facebook, out of curiosity what is your background?

You would have a better chance competing in another niche of the net and not directly against a billion dollar company that the majoirty of society has already accepted for their social media platform.

Dont compare education with intelligence. Money and education has nothing to do together, look at Sean Parker, he didnt studied and he is richer than 99.99999% that studied in Harvard or whatever you want. Richard Branson, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs. Same example of geniuses, of course that building the same concept and trying to overcome a beast like Facebook sounds too big but not to be understimated if he is willing to accept the challenge.

I wish you the best of luck with your venture. It will be very difficult to have people leave Facebook for a new start up unless you are offering something never heard of before. Many people do not like change and they already have many connections with friends and family members on Facebook. I believe it will be many years before anyone will be able to compete with Facebook.

Good luck.

If your going to do it you have to come up with a unique concept that know one has done before. Look at instagram no one had done it like they did then facebook bought them. Forget cloning, think outside of the box and come up with a different type of social network.

Trying to replicate/improve something is inevitable fail... you CAN be successful if you come up with an idea that has NOT been done before...

DO that and I'll advertise you everywhere.

Don't compare education with intelligence? I agree there are exceptions to the rule, but the vast majority of successful people in the world have a good education. It is the pillar of success. Also, none of these people said "I'm going to create the next something better than what's already out there" they said, "I'm going to create something new that no one has ever seen before". And none of them had any idea they would be successful.

They didn't start off wanting to take on the world, they just kind of accidentally fell into it.

The same can be said about someone making the same comment as others did in the same thread right? :D

Regardless thanks for your opinion guys, I will be sure to post the link here once its complete.

Yes... and Sean Parker also invested in Facebook..

Why arguing guys? If that's what OP truly believe in and has balls to take on it, then I can't help but to wish him all the best :)

It's his dream. And he dares to fight for it. Then I have a BIG-ASS respect to him than to people who keep bitching about it!

It's all about an out-of-the-box idea and a fierce determination to face that competition of which I think OP has already prepared.

@OP: Keep doing the things you believe in and everything else will fall in their places down the road :) Good luck!

Keep going. . . Btw dnt forget to give bhw member option for making pages with lots of likes :D and some free ad vouchers to bhw member :)

If you have the will power you will do it. Don't let these lessers get the best of you. Kudos.

Sadly just having some will power and a little social community script running somewhere is not really going to cut it.

Heck, people haven't even adopted Google+ that much!

Can't wait to see you win in your run. Its so hard but its also so much essential. We tried some thing like that but could not make some thing better. Let the luck be with you.

In my opinion it could be possible to make it big with it. Just the fact that people will hear that there is a second facebook will make people curious and encourage people a lot to see what it looks like at that point if yours can be better in some aspects then facebook and make it for them very easy to start all overnew you will be strong there and there is also a big group of anti facebook people that you could get into too. I really wish you good luck and I am curious to see how it turned out. In any case that you want my help as a jv I am ready to assist you.
