Hello there,

Recently, I got my hands on a custom-built saas platform similar to OnlyFans and I am seriously considering investing in its further development.
However, given that there is already competition from well-established platforms like OnlyFans and Fansly, I am uncertain if it is worth pursuing.

I would appreciate your thoughts on this matter. Do you think it is worth pursuing despite the existing competition?

kofi and patron are ones that i can think of on the top of my head that are quite popular too
there is always gonna be competition in most spaces/industry.
it's more do you hvae the funds and team to compete agaisn't them or to compete to make a ROI

Currently I'm all by myself and i dont have the funds to kickstart something to compete with them but i got a lot of time.
My plan is to gather some users that know how to attract new models (with email, agencies, etc) so we can earn together.

Porn/nude industry is ever evolving and always changing.
It's always been a profitable business so I would dare say you wont make money at all.
Imgur also recently released a stance agains't nuditiy so alot of nsfw imgurs will be looking for a new home aswell.
I personally know another person who is also gonna start somethng similiar too.
 
That's a nice tip, i can consider creating an imgur nsfw friendly alternative.
If you or your friend would like to work together in the future, you can always hmu.
 
You can get OnlyFans clone sites built now quite cheaply and frankly it's less about what you have to offer vs the simple fact that OnlyFans has massive brand equity.

Creators don't want to move over to a different platform regardless of what USP you have over OnlyFans.
I've seen people offer 10% or even 5% service fees and creators still don't care as much as you'd think they should...

Not saying you should stay away just be mindful that most agencies will just build their own clone sites if they are going to move away from OF and lots of solo creators + users feel more comfortable with OF.

Think about it, if you're browsing IG and you come across a model you like, you will know what those link in bios mean... that type of brand equity cost lots of $$ for companies like OnlyFans/Fansly.

If you're trying to get involved in the adult space I'd recommend starting smaller and avoiding the KYC/Payout nightmares that an OF competitor platform would have. Don't let me shoot you down though, if you execute I'm sure you can crush it. Lots of money to be made in adult.

Yes, I was also scared by the KYC and the Payouts since they give me such a headache.
Also, I was thinking about the same thing, "why models with an established community there will came to my platform".
Overall, I don't think it worth the time and there's no possible way to start growing without investing thousands of dollars in marketing.

The competition is a tough nut to crack. But think about it, if there is competition, that means there is demand. You just have to bring something new to the table, something that sets you apart from the rest. Do your research, find the gaps, and fill them. It won't be easy, but it is definitely worth pursuing if you have a unique value proposition.

One part of me think you are crazy.

The other think that it is actually possible on a small level.

I have done something similar with my camming studio.

It should be national and you should actively work with agencies.

That's what I was thinking about.
I've seen here a lot of users starting their own OF agency and there's space for a partnership.
As long as i provide better comission in the exchange for the same service, there's a way i can attract models
BUT, as i said above, i don't think this is possible without spending thousands in marketing

Be careful about these agencies...

Everyone and their grandmother has a OF agency todays and most have no idea what they are doing.

Find good recognised agencies.

You should test organic first if you don't want to do paid ads.
 
Do you have a demo of the script? For this oversaturated area you should probably find a specific niche to be successful. I am interested in checking out your script if you have a demo. I am looking for something similar.

I only say this because we get pitched on a new OF competitor every week and I've heard all the diff value props and ways it stands out: crypto, lower service fees, search features, niche, flat rates, anonymous, in-house management, NFTs, etc...
In the end, 99% get 0 traction and the 1% that do require big $$ to get it moving.

I agree with WillyFish - if you're going to do it start really small and only target reputable agencies. Offer partnerships to groups if you can even. Goodluck man!
 
Indeed, I am aware that new projects emerge frequently, but often struggle to survive. Nonetheless, I believe there is still ample room for a platform such as this, as long as it provides something distinctive. For example, in certain regions of the world, models may face high taxes on their earnings. In such cases, offering alternative payment methods like gift cards could be advantageous.

I agree that starting small is a prudent approach, but it can be challenging to establish oneself in a specific niche and acquire suitable collaborations.
Regrettably, I fear that this project may only remain an idea.

I would say YES - there's always plenty of horny fellas and competition is a fact in any market.

I have a team of developers. We have created something similar to the OF and in the same month we will start.
I will be glad to take anyone who thinks that can help us climb and who can become a member of our team!
