I created a watch movies website on blogspot on a custom domain my website info is listed on my profile if you want to have a look. I don't know if I'm allowed to post links so I probably shouldn't :) I have come to the point where I am bored and there is nothing else I can add to it as blogger is very limited. I would like to start the same type of website on either wordpress, joomla or drupal but don't know which one will best suit my needs.
I want something ideally like letmewatchthis.

I want users to be able to register, be able to upload a custom avatar and to be able to write a short about for themselves.
I want members to be able to add links and to be able to delete their own links.
I would also like users to be able to have a chat room where registered users can also pm each other.

I have very little knowledge of html. I just google search everything :)
Which cms will best suite my needs? wordpress, joomla or drupal?
    any advice is much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

Anytype of a more "complicated" site designs I use Plone(python) for clients.. It has a much steeper learning curve but you can produce some pretty fantastic results, such as video sharing, forums, wiki, blogs all in one.

If you want to get into more of the "coding" you can take a look at the Pinax project based on the django stack(python)

    Welcome to BHW.

I recommend you to use wordpress. Its damn easy to learn. Unless you going to become a web developer you don't spend much time on learning designing, people out there to do this for few bugs. Wordpress you can use themes choose a right theme for your site install it feed content and pictures and its up and live. NO need to learn coding. To learn wordpress you can have a search in youtube you will get tone of tutorials. And for theme have a look at BHW template download section here >> http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/f111-templates-themes/ (free for you :D )
If you planned to go for more professional option go to themeforest and have a look. See the demo if it suits your need go with it.

Ask me if you need further assistance.

Thanks for the great advice :) I'm loving it here already. I think I'm going to go with wordpress. I just wanted to make sure that all the things I asked for I would be able to do on wordpress.

I do want to learn coding, However I feel like it's too late, I'm still young 23 but without the basic knowledge it seems like it will take some years to maybe fully learn html alone.

For wordpress it is flexible. For more security use Drupal :)

lol I just typed drupal into google search and under news it shows that millions of users had their accounts compromised, Millions of users have been hacked and drupal had to reset all passwords.
Also drupal seems like a far stretch for me now I think I will start on WP as it's the easiest to use out of the three. Once I believe I have enough knowledge of using it I probably will move to one of the other two.

WP can cover all your needs. There is a chat room plugin (its actually called chat room ), if you want to set up a forum you can use bbpress. Users can sign up for the site, and you can give them different levels of access, including allowing them to post stuff i.e. links. They will also be able to upload avatars and write bios. Like others said, this is very easy to set up in WP.

Avatars and bios are intrinsic to wordpress itself. You don't need any plugins. You just have to set up your permissions for users and then once they sign up and login they will have their own dashboard (limited according to their user level) where they can customize their avatar and put a bio section in. Just make sure you, as the administrator, sets to allow avatars under your own dashboard by going to Settings->Discussion and checking the box to allow them. You don't have to worry too much about this as many people are familiar with WP and will figure out how to to the bio and avatar upon gaining access to their dashboard. Best of luck to you!
