Hello,

So, the past months have been very terrible for me.

All my hard work going down the drain. And it gets worse by the day.

My website is about 3 years old. I really don't know what I did wrong and how to fix it.


Back in the day?

There was a time I wasn't earning less than $500 a month(Adsense), one time, it even grew to $1100 (best month of my life)


Here are some things I did,

1. Accepted casino guest posts for some extra cash. (Being my first website and not having much experience, I felt I was nothing wrong).

2. Paid some writers to create content, I didn't edit the content (Lazy me) Found out there where over-optimized and had some text writing errors.


My website right now?

* I can barely earn $100 in a month.

* One of my best content seems to be removed from Google Search, but I still get some views on the post daily.

* There is no improvement.


What I want to do to solve the issue!!

* I want to publish more content.
* Slowly, I am editing all previous over-optimized articles.
* I have removed all the casino backlinks and other unrelated links.


I need your help, tell me what you think is the problem.

HOW DO I SOLVE THIS?
WHERE DO I START FROM?
WILL MY WEBSITE COME BACK?

If you made $500-$1100 with AdSense, you could've doubled that if you had more networks on the site in addition or along with AdSense.
Remove the casino posts or deindex via Search Console. I doubt that overoptimized articles played a big role, but you may want to work on those as well.
Keep creating content and you'll get back where you were.

What is your main source of traffic?

Is it SEO? Then try to see what went wrong with your rankings. That no-traffic period at the start of 2019 doesn't look good. What happened there?

I moved from blogger to wordpress, and I didn't set up search console correctly I think.

My main traffic source is SEO

I have literally lost all rankings. It's getting worse.

Don't know if optimizing all previous articles and adding new ones will do me any good.
 
Same Thing Happened To Me. One Thing You Can Do Is Change Your Domain. Maybe There Is hidden penalty from Google on your current domain. From my experience i can surely say changing domain is only option to remove any kind of penalty. [You Must Buy A Tld domain(.com,.net) or if you have country based site then .us, .uk]. After Changing Domain Try To Update Content Regularly.
Extra tips: Add title And alt attribute to all images, i used one plugin to do that. Install wp last modified info plugin, it will add one extra line in google structure which is seo friendly. add nofollow tag to all external links and most importantly Make sure your hosting is good and site is fast (you can use cache plugin to make site fast but 24 hour uptime depands on good hosting).
Changing domain worked for me as i got mass dmca removal notice on previous domain so i added noindex tag to all copyrighted posts and now my traffic is back and increasing day by day. hope it will work for you too. it can take time but if your luck is good you will get instant result. ignore broken english thanks

Quick question.

My website is tech based, and has topics like 10 best android games for kids.

All the games have links to Google Play Store.

Am I supposed to add a nofollow to all play store links?

There are like 10 playstore links per post.

But, I thought I am supposed to have some do-follow links for SEO

Making all links nofollow even HIGH DA ones, is it a good move?

Too many do follow links give a signal to google of a spam site. and i dont think high da external links is going to help your site but it can damage your site.
 
Well, I'm not that expert in SEO, but I think you should structure things to make sure where the problem is

ON-Page SEO
  • Update any post/article with keyword stuffing, over-optimising
  • Check your website speed (use gzip, compress pictures, optimize the database, change hosting if it's needed)
  • Check meta tags, descriptions and titles
  • Make sure to add alt tags to all the pictures if it's possible (not that important)
  • Check your external links, are they related to your niche? Are they relevant domains/pages
  • How's your internal linking?
  • Remove any casino or adult guest posts or normal posts
OFF-PAGE SEO
  • Check your backlinks, if you are getting any bad links from competitors, disavow them if it's needed
  • Check if any of your old relevant backlinks have been deindexed, website penalized or simply it's removed
  • Check your social signals
What you should take in mind as well, you have been getting hits multiple times according to the picture,
check google updates (semrush or any other similar tool) and what has been changed in the algorithms when you got the hits,
Try to optimize according to these updates

If nothing of these helps, hire someone professional to do the work, after all, if you earn more than $500 per month for this, even spending $200 to solve it out will be worthy

Try to update unique fresh content and add alt tags and check linking structure and build more back-links.

Fix those over optimized content and remove low quality and irrelevant links. These will lower the value of your site. Keep the site spam free and add quality content and high authority links increase site trust and maintain relevancy.
