First of all, 2 days ago I bought HostGator hatchling plan for 1 month, everything was great until yesterday, just suddenly without any warning I can't access to my website and cpanel - it shows The login is invalid. I didn't even receive any email about this. Everything is blocked - I can't login into cpanel, can't access FTP, nothing. But I can access billing portal on which yesterday my service was showing active, now it's not showing nothing, just "There is a problem with your billing account. Please contact (billing email) to get this resolved. Sorry for the inconvenience."

So I created a ticket on the 2nd day, they are not responding to that, I started to chat with live support - Jerry S, he said I should have received some email requesting me to send more information to activate my account. Final message from him was
"(3:02 pm) [Jerry S.] I have submitted this to our activations team, they will be reseeding the email to you within 2 hours."
It's been 24 hours now, they haven't sent me anything..

After researching few websites about that verification, I realized they are gonna ask me a passport or some government ID, even google adsense has never asked me for that.. So hostgator can f* off now..

I requested refund yesterday, and again they are not responding to that..

Forgot to mention, they are scammers - on the main page it says UNLIMITED disk space, but in cpanel it shows 20 GB.

What kind of website where you running? I have heard of them taking down sites that are putting a strain on their severs but never killing your account...

Hostgator are brilliant if you don't try to scam them and know what you are doing. Mind you I wouldn't host any big money sites on there :welcome:

hostgator do not scam there must be something you are wrong

Nobody recommends Hostgator. We use it cuz it's cheap.

Yep, I use it just because it's cheap and I'm too lazy to find a different host provider.

I had your issue when I was setting up my account at first, I got it resolved though in like a day or two. I just opened up a bunch of support tickets and contacted the live support too.

Another thread about how much "HostGator sucks"? Doing an exact match search on Google for "HostGator sucks" yields 157 pages on Black Hat World alone (this doesn't even include the number of times that phrase has appeared on this site).

This doesn't even include all of the misspellings and variations of "HostGator sucks" such as:

"HostGator Blows"
"Host Gator Sucks"
"Host Gater Sucks"
"HostGater Sucks"
"Host Gator Blows"

It's fine if you think HostGator sucks, but there was already an active thread in this sub-forum about HostGator sucking that was created on the 8th that you could have posted on:

I had to do the exact same thing when I first set up the account! :D

Mine was something else. It took almost a month to get my account activated. When my account was finally activated, I was unable to change my primary domain. Still trying to reach their customer support. Well for me, the only reason I am using hostgator is because I purchased their black friday hosting plan which was damn cheap.

Hostgator always has been great for many years! Something has been going on with Support lately.

Also seeing some strange stuff happening on my shared hosting account.

I could never find a better hosting for my PHP scripts. They will not work at all on many other shared hosts. When it comes to running PHP Scripts Hostgator is the best!

Hostgator has worked out pretty well for me, I wouldn't exactly say they scam people

Nothing wrong with Hostgator. I have a number of reseller accounts with various companies and they are all exactly the same...same service, same support.

True. But since they have been acquired by EIG, it has never been the same. But I guess for the monthly rate, it's still a good buy.

Yeah screw Hostgator I had some problems with them as well.Never got it sorted out because their customer service was not so great.Switched to Hostwinds and have not gone back since.

lol don't you have something better to do?

Well talking about ho s t -tig-a*tor and creating bad or good reputation doesnt matter at the end they get the advertising because of us, if they sucks, just don't use it, share the complain and lets have a great hosting, I know here are more than 1 hosting owner happy to welcome you... on a good price... lol

Most of the hosting providers ask for identity proof if they find anything suspicious from your account, for instance, your billing address doesn't match with the location from which order was placed. And there is no such thing as unlimited hosting, there is always a catch and you should check it with the hosting provider before signing up. Hostgator used to be a great brand but it had a huge downfall after EIG acquired it.

Almost every webhost that EIG buys they completely ruin. They are in the process of ruining HostGator. The customer service is slower that it used to be, and there is more downtime. For anyone looking for good hosting, make sure it is not owned by EIG, because they own many webhosts now.

Been with them for over 5 years and never had any problems until recently but had an email issue which I've been waiting on support to fix for weeks now despite chasing via live chat and on the ticket. Looks like time to move but such a ballache to switch 😫
