Most people won't get clean no matter what till they hit rock bottom. It's dangerous advice but sometimes I think its smarter to drink more in effort to destroy your current life faster. That's what I did when I was addicted to speed. Instead of trying to control my addiction I just said "fuck it", started smoking 20+ times a day, lost my mind, started dealing.. wound up in prison and was forced to get clean.
Then I got out, was clean for 5 yrs... got back into drinking / partying... then got hooked on opiates and it's long story how that panned out. I got off hard opiates but have been maintaining on a low dose of suboxone for like 7 yrs now.
Addiction really is a mindfuck of a problem.
The older I get the more I'm realizing it's not drugs or alcohol that's the problem. It's how you life your life thats the problem. How you cope with problems. How you cope with people. How you cope with yourself, boredom, money, food, family, the world, everything, etc.
BTW, someone mentioned "naltrexone" which caught my attention. I've noticed for 7 yrs now I can't drink no matter what and for a long time never understood why. Cause when I was younger I use to drink as much as I used drugs.
As time passed by I started to realize it's the NALAXONE they put in suboxone that makes alcohol impossible to drink. I don't think naltrexone and naloxone are the same but I believe they're both antagonists that target similar regions of the brain. I have ZERO TOLERANCE to alcohol but if I take 6 shots in 1 hour I won't feel a thing. I can't get drunk. It doesn't make me feel good. I get sweaty. It's almost like the nalaxone completely blocks the alcohol but also changes the way it works in your body. So instead of getting drunk I just get sweaty and sick feeling. The more I drink the more sick I feel and that sober feeling never goes away.
If I were you I'd definitely experiment with either nalaxone or naltrexone. Nalaxone is easy as fuck to get ahold of these days. It doesn't get you high it just clogs up your receptors so if you do drink or use opiates they don't get you high in any way.
ps. I believe you can get nalaxone without a prescription by going to the pharmacy since it's used for ODs. Naltrexone I'm not sure about. You only need a small dose of either med and you won't be able to drink.
