Hey BHW hope all is well.

I have a huge issue atm. I just picked up a client and their website isn't indexing.

No: 'noindex' detected in 'X-Robots-Tag' http header

where and how to remove/resolve?

Probably the last section in this article should solve your problem.

Check if you got yoast seo plugin installed. I faced same issue earlier and deactivating that plugin helped. If you do not have this plugin, check if you have any other seo plugin installed and check by deactivating them one by one. This should resolve the issue.

I do have yoast. I did deactivate it but for some reason it's still not resolving the issue.

I had a similar issue with a wordpress website and Yoast plugin. The developer had set it up to "discourage search engines from indexing". A roll-back to an older version of the plugin and disabling the option did the job.

I do not know if this helps or not. I thought that I should share it.

Use some plugin, used google console for indexing and second one post unique content

Fixed it in the HTTP Acess file. Super weird. Seems like my clients previous SEO company had gotten in there and added a line of code to not index.

Can you share exactly what you fixed/changed?

I had the same plugin problem at the beginning and solved it by reinstalling it.

They probably did it when he was quiting them to punish him and/or with the hope that when his website lost all its rankings he will come crawling back to them..

That was their intentions however they waited 2-3 months to do it.

I went into the code and changed the no index into index. Then updated the file. Be careful you could break your website if you don't do it correctly. I went back into google console and recrawled the site and it indexed.
