How to run software while computer is off

My question is does anybody know how I can have my software running all night and performing tasks while my laptop is off and while I sleep? Is this done through some type of server or something?

Admins you can move this if it doesn't belong in this menu.

Purchase a VPS and run it there.
 
I was thinking that, but I have no idea how to run a vps or how it works. So many confusing tutorials I've watched so far, need to look some more I guess.

it's very easy , just use remote desktop on your windows ... , if need help i will setup that for free .
 
paperspace (dot) com is easy to use and quite affordable
 
VPS really isnt that hard to use. Just login with Remote Desktop and you're in Windows

and get your Free VPS

what software are you running?
 
Don't rely on your local machine. Use a virtual private server. Plenty of providers in the marketplace here.
 
You just need to insert IP, username, password in the remote desktop (It should be already in your PC) and then you can install the software on the vps
