How much spinning is required before an article is considered unique to Google? For instance, if I pull content from a site like a movie description from IMDB, how much has to be changed to not penalized. Would changing every 5th word be good enough? More? Less?

You keeping spinning until its unreadable by all except for the most persistent bot.

There are a ton of threads at BHW regarding checking duplicate copy services.

Unique content is still the best way. If you can rewrite it will make more sense.Spin and duplicate content will be penalized by the Google so try to avoid it.

I would say about 50-60% uniqueness level. Should be good enough to be somewhat readable and 100% unique.

Btw dont use this for your first tier links. ive had bad experience.
Hope i helped =)

more than 50% i think. but you can easily put them in copyscape to determine the condition. may be I don't do massive article submission that's why i get the time to check them :)

Your articles need to be over 60% unique I think and also they need to be readable and make sense. Otherwise you will have animal problems later :D

spin it until your head spins to know WTF is written on your screen.
