On the average partner's channel (since the Partner Program is now open to anyone with an account in "good standing"), you probably only make a few cents per week...maybe even less. It just depends on how high your viewership is. Really REALLY popular channels probably make a few hundred bucks per week

Views have nothing to do with making money through monetizing on youtube. You get paid for the people who watch the ad's before the video and if they click on the ad you get paid more.

Wrong. Views are the most important factor for making money on YouTube - more views->broader audience->more people watching the ads->higher chance of getting ad clicks. Also some of the adverts are CPM not CPC.
