Hey guys,

I need some advice as to how much does my instagram pics cost. A nation wide travel company has shown some interest to buy some of my pics.

I have an instagram account related to tourism. I post pics of touristy places nearby me. I am based in Asia.

I have 1100 followers and my pics get around 200 likes and average of 15 comments. ( first 100 likes in about an 1.5 hours and then keeps increasing to 200 plus some).

Is there a way to determine how to put a value on my pics?

I am just an hobbyist photographer, so this is all very new to me. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

They are worth what they will pay.

Ask for $1000, if they say too much ask them to make an offer.

They asked me first for the quote actually. That's why I wanted to determine if I can find a good and sensible amount to quote.

Won't quoting a random and high amount (like 1000$) make me look unprofessional?

I mean, who knows, this could lead to a collaboration with the company. And quoting a random number might set a bad precedent.

You reckon I ask them instead how much they think will pay for it?

It will make you look like a guy who knows what he is worth and a guy that values his time. $1000 is also probably cheaper than a photographer would cost them to go to your location and take the photo again.

Guys....... I have Instagram account but I have no interest to develop it. I read your post and found you wanted to know about Instagram pic costs. Here I wanted to say there is no fixed price for it. You are photographer so normally you have better communication with photography sites. So you can found exact answer from there. Search there please. Bye........

I have no much information about pictures but i will say that you check on how the company pays for pictures from other photographers, how other companies of the same class buy their photos then you can decide on hoe to value you photo. you can also evaluate any risks or expenses that you incur while doing the photography works. I hope I have helped in one way or another. All the best

It's worth however much they are willing to pay.
I agree with Ste ^ , if you say $20 or something low, they will think youre worth that little.
Start high so they know you value your time and photos but also act professional at the same time

ON instagram everyone takes peoples photos, I doubt the big accounts pay

I wouldn't ask for a value, but in return I'd ask for creditability to your instagram page. Thats worth more than just a one time pay, in my honesty.

I wouldn't agree with you. A photographer has to buy their own camera, lens, and stuff needed for photography. They may have paid $$$-$$$$ for a good education in photography. Nobody wants to work for free.

OP I would ask what they are going to use it and what kind of rights they are looking to buy. Some may buy the pictures and buy all the rights, which means you aren't going to able to show and tell people that the photo is yours when it becomes popular. Anyway, my point is don't settle for free! (Thoughts from a hobbyist 7 year photographer)

$1000 for a photo? is it laced with crack?

Why in the world would they pay 1 grand?
When i hire a pro photographer and a hot model for my brand i pay 800 in total.

faithjhung, never settle for free is true. But never decline an opportunity. OP, would you rather have $1,000 from one picture you own and pass full rights to the bigger company and MAYBE, just MAYBE will they buy another picture from you.
Whereas if you just ask for credibility from a huge following company, in exchange you receive high traffic and huge increase in followers for your page, and your name will be suggested to all other companies for pictures by you. Which will mean, you can do what ever you want with the inquiries. Sell them, offer free content for creditability for followers, etc. Sacrifice for a bigger return. And whats a bigger return than having your foot in the door for a big industry.

I am a photographer for a living.

You wanna ask:

1.Period (Duration they wanna use the image)
2.Usage (Just online or print too?)
3.Territory (More for print but just US/Europe/Asia etc..)

Check out
the-aop. org/information/usage-calculator

If you cant see the link above just google AOP Usage Calculator...

(Very few clients buy the full rights for an image the price goes through the roof for a full buy out,)

They can take any photo they want and as long as they credit you u cant do shit. They can just steal it off your page and block your ass.
