How long does it takes to learn SEO

You can learn it in few months and you will keep learning it throughout life.
If you enjoy SEO than this field is for you.
I started learning in 2008-09 with a group of 30 , after 10 years 1 of us is on BHW and running SEO.
Rest 29 were thinking it's a kids thing and a boring thing too. So, they doing 9-5 job.

The more action you take the more you will understand what you read.
 
At this point, I advise you to not waste your time learning SEO. It's just an advice, no need to actually take it.
 
Start by going through the threads here under black hat seo and white hat seo sections. I am sure, it will help you a lot.
 
Forever, as long as you doing IM, you learn SEO. you need to keep innovate, and learn new things, because google keep updating their Algorithm. What works now, not necessary keep working. or it keep working but need some tweak

Btw, you learn SEO with doing it. only Read,watch or doing tutorial won't cut it.
(it will help though)

Well. SEO is a long journey and there is specific time. It keeps changing. Just focu on learning the basics and ask SEO masters. Spy on SEO experts because most don't share the best SEO secrets.

And I see the best advice in SEO I can say here. Focu on linking to authority sites and make your links natural. A link fro. Businessinsider is better than thousands of links from random sites.

I've been learning 12+ years and as it's an ever evolving process, keep testing on a regular basis to see what works, what's changed and what doesn't work.
 
A few months to pick up the basics, but after that, it is an ongoing learning process. Things are always changing with search engine updates, and you have to be willing to keep studying and experimenting and adapting if you want to succeed over the long term.

i have been learning/doing seo for about 2 years now and the new stuff just keeps on popping because google gets updates quite frequently so there is always a new thing to learn.
 
There is no fixed time for this , depends on your interest and dedication.
 
In SEO you have to learn, unlearn and relearn, that has been my experience in past 10 years with SEO.
 
two words.. Million years... SEO is not something you can tame .. it changes so much and have so much variables you can't simply learn it like HTML coding and start implementing it and get traffic and make big sales

+1. SEO really is a never-ending learning journey.

But I would say it could take you at least 1-3 years before you're really, really good.

After 5 - 10 years you'll know it like the back of your hand and can't even visit normal websites anymore without performing on-page SEO audits :)
 
there's no such Exact time. SEO is changing always. what worked last year will not work today.

anyway to get an exact idea - you'll need to spend at least like 2 years in industry. (hopefully)
 
Check with MOZ guides, it helped me in few topics. Also, watch youtube videos, will help you to learn quickly and easily.
