Currently I own a domain called www trailofwealth com . I bought this back in December with different intentions, but ended up moving on to a different business venture. Now I am looking towards building a make money/build wealth/personal finance/investing blog, and was wondering if I should just use this domain name, or find one that would be better for something like SEO (don't know much about SEO yet though lol)

FYI. I bought the annual Personal Blog package on Wordpress, which was about $60/year.

Blog name should be matter. But not compulsory. If you use exact domains with keywords and relavant names it's identify by Google in that niche. Anyhow your current blog name will match to your new ventures too. If you like you can use the same blog name.

Well, I feel better now. My 2nd site’s domain is the exact keyword and niche match. I hope it’ll help with my rankings.

Branding is important. In my mind, it's better to look natural rather than like you're trying to game the system (even though we are :anyway:)

So, trailofwealth is better than say InternetMarketingGuru.com

It will help a lot be sure to name all the images too before you upload them.
I had a site rank by the Site Name, Title, Description and Names of the Pages. I had no content or links.
I also have a site ranking for something Bing suggested because I was using Paid Broad Match Traffic. I would have never found this subject through the keyword planner.

Definitely! Do you mean the alt text or the image name itself? Wow and how long did it take for your site to rank? My site is a week and a half old and I’ve been impatient with seeing results. I also don’t want to waste the opportunity of having a great domain name so I’m uploading contents almost every day.

You sound like you are advising him as if he is going to create the blog for churn and burn

I really don't think that domain name is too important as long as you use your common sense and get one that is intuitive and reasonably on brand.

The most important thing is content, organisation, site structure, page Seo, backlinking and using various tools out there to help monitor and improve crawling, ranking and visitor experience.

Name of the image before you upload it. Look at the first page results for the keyword you are trying to rank. Structure your content similar to it. If you see a lot of videos make a video. Do some High-Quality blog post for links. It don't matter if it no-follow or do-follow.
If you pay for Broad Traffic even if it's only $1 a day within 2-weeks you will know exactly what people are typing in the search engines in Real-Time.

Your current domain name is perfectly fine for the type of blog you're trying to build, there is no need to change it. :)

Branding is much better nowadays as it makes a memorable impression on consumers and allows your clients and customers to know about your company or products. Branding is the best way to differentiate yourself from others.

Trailofwealth.com sounds fine, but could be better. I suggest using a catchy, memorable name. Your domain doesn't roll off the tongue like, let's say, Nerd Wallet or Wise Bread.

Avoid using an EMD like topfinancialadvice.com. It sounds spammy.

Domain name is good in the first place to rank. Actually domain age and name is first issues abut seo. And then your domain name show many impression to people, it called branding. People will come to your site and remember domain name as a branding

Your domain name sounds good to me for the niches you mentioned. And I think blog's name is important for branding.

I think it doesn't really matter in turns of SEO that much.
But it is very important for your website looking professional. I would much rather read about investment on a page called financepro.com instead of investmentstrats.co (these don't exist, i believe)
So yeah, domains do matter imo.
