Hey guys! I'm new to BHW but have heard of this site before. My friend always used to talk about it before. So let me get straight to the point.

I'm a 20-year-old University Student. I first heard of IM when I was 16 years old. I tried out everything I came across. Everything failed. 3 months ago I started a dropshipping store, didn't go as I hoped to. Then I started another store. This one did good! In my first week, I did 6500$ in revenue = 3000$ in profit. I was happy and hungry to hustle more! But after 1 week it just went down. That made me lazy and I lost focus. I've been trying to force myself to work and start the business again. But my procrastination is killing me.

The IM OG's out there, do you have any tips you could give me?

Sorry for my bad English. English is not my first language.

Drink some coffee, get an early start, and listen to some non distracting type of music without words. This alone helps me get a solid 4 hours of work done in the morning. I can start at 4am and by the time it's 8am, I'm already in the zone, and have completed every task for the day and no one at home hasn't even woken up yet.

Eat less. Consume whey protein : comes in powder and you mix 3 tablespoons in a glass of milk (mix properly) & drink it ... 2 to 3 times a day. It will give your body & brain "top dog" nutrition & your body & brain will always feel energetic & fresh enabling you to stay focussed & motivated. This has helped me tremendously.

You could find someone prominent in your field of choice and analyze what makes them different, find out what motivated them in the first place. Read their interviews. Surround yourself with such people. Also, you can look at their work and compare it with yours.

Don't know m8 I put on some EDM Music in the background make some Turkish Black Tea and after some time I realize that I worked over 8 hours. Really I don't know I love things like testing out how something work sometimes you make some money sometimes you don't but in the end, it comes to the thing that you didn't just lose time but in the process of success and failure you actually learned something that you can always monetize.

I can just say try to make it a habit the success will come eventually. And if you stay lazy you will never succeed if you don't work on anything.

Get into the habit of listening to podcasts every morning, after brushing your teeth possibly. I can recommend Naval podcast. Start early, the thing is, past 11 AM quality of work reduces. Think about how you made the $3000 in the first place. How many days did it take you to reach that level? Let's say you made $3000 in a month. So 1 day wasted costs you $100, which you paid by wasting your time. Honestly, that's a bad example, money should never be a motivating factor, at least that's what I believe. It's about how resourceful was your time spent during the course of the day.

Set goals for nice stuff (nice house, badass car, hot chicks, whatever you're into - those are my three ha) for motivation - print out pictures and keep them around you to motivate you if you need visual reminders. With a solid goal you'll be more likely to stick with one or a few projects until they take off (in my experience, at least). But you can't jump from one method or idea to another too quickly or you're only wasting your time. Use productivity apps such as Freedom to stay on task and block time-wasting websites and apps while you're working.

I'm 20 years old and in university as well. I've got a few habits I've developed that have helped a ton with my motivation and productivity. Follow these tips and I promise you'll feel more productive and motivated towards the things you're passionate about.

1. Waking up earlier and getting proper sleep. I've found my peak hours of productivity and motivation are early in the morning. Most weekday mornings I'm working by 5:30. By 9AM I've finished most of my important work for the day, which is great cause of classes, other commitments, etc. Getting so much done before anyone else is even awake is a fantastic feeling, and is definitely a feedback loop of sorts, i.e. once you feel it once you're hooked and want to do it every morning.

It's kinda funny how many "entrepreneurs" on social media always talk about how "cool it is" to only get 4 hours of sleep a night so they can "grind" more... It's literally the most destructive thing you can do to your body and productivity. Of course, there are the occasional nights where you have a project deadline or want to get a new ad campaign live and have to sacrifice your sleep... But it's so difficult to be productive long-term when you aren't getting proper sleep. For me, 6-7 hours a night is perfect and allows me perfect mental clarity in the mornings. Any more, and I feel sluggish. Any less, and I have gnarly brain fog for the first half of the day. But don't sacrifice sleep. I assure you it will come back to bite you long-term.

2. Healthier diet. I've noticed that eating less sugar and red meat has also helped me feel less sluggish and reduced my "brain fog" at certain hours of the day. It's hard to feel 100% when your body is just constantly trying to process all the shit we eat (Especially in university trust me lol). I throw a couple superfoods in my morning smoothies too just cause why not lol.

3. Exercise. Working out helps keep the blood flowing and actually, believe it or not, gives me more energy and motivation to work. Just have to go at the right time (late afternoon for me).

4. Finally, dopamine fueled habits. I've significantly reduced my social media/phone usage significantly and other habits that give you hits of dopamine (drinking/smoking). In the case of social media, they're constantly bombarding you with sensational information that causes dopamine to be released in your brain. That's one of the reasons why social media is so addictive (if you don't believe me, just look up social media and dopamine). Over time, the constant dopamine hits cause your dopamine receptors to become "numbed" to anything sensational and it's harder for you to feel enjoyment from other things you are productive and passionate about (i.e. your business, IM, etc.). This is SO prevalent in university students. If managed properly this is arguably the most powerful tool of them all for productivity.

I've spent a lot of time getting to know my body, trying different things, etc. and I know the feeling of being unmotivated but simultaneously being hungry for success and just unable to execute. If I can help one person with this then I'll be content lol

Thanks! I will test this out!

Money is my motivator, I made $4 on webcams, I always hear scale on bhw and I thought If I can make $4 I can make $8 if i can make $8 , it finally scaled to full time work :)
Money is also my motivator. But becoming lazy really destroys my whole motivation and work ethic.

I have never thought about this, thank you I will try it out!

Here are a few tips which helped me:

1. GET GOALS
You should have 3 types of goals:

- Short term goals (goals you can reach easily if you stay consistent with your work. For me that are goals in fitness like gaining muscle, in IM it's most of the time getting a specific revenue....)
Should take like 1 month - 1 year or could be even shorter term

- intermediate goals
Goals which are difficult to reach and take like 1-10 years (Building your business to a specific scale, learn photo editing, have a specific number of workers for your company, buy that car you ever wanted....) Just goals which will keep you motivated

- long term goals
Often described as Life goals or smth.
They should be very high and for me that are goals like: having a great family when your old, get enough money for your kids....
Very hard to define but really important.

This is a VERY IMPORTANT concept which you can apply to your business and your personality.

Further tipps:

- keep a clean diet, I fell so much more focused if I'm cutting sugar and won't go to the fridge every hour. Also sugar or fast-food overall makes me lazy.

- work out, that improves my life in a good way. You only have something where you can use your emotions and I feel like I'm thinking very clear after going to the gym

Hope this helps you, also it's very important to build your routine and your habits.
May look into my thread "journey to consistensy" or read the book "Atomic habits"

Go around and look at the wealth, successful every where. Then you will have the big motivation, make friends with success people, talk with them. Join the motivation community ( likes self help communities...)

The more I earn, the more motivated and focused I get. Money is like a drug.
