Hey everyone on my last post people were talking about featured comments, and I was wondering if anybody knows the factors that play into getting featured? Had 3 main questions

1. Do you need and og @?

2. What pages have featured comments (does the page your commenting on have to be verified? Or a certain size?)

3. Do you need alot of followers and if so around how many?

4. Does the account that posted have to be following you?

Im asking all these questions because i was looking into self promotion and heard that this way of getting "featured" is much more effective

Would also like to know. Always tend to see the same people abusing this on the larger pages with lame comments but it really works.

Isn't it just the largest accounts to comment?
I dont think so, sometimes yes but ive seen that sometimes the person that posted follows them. Im sorta sure featured comments are really only on verified pages but im not 100% sure

I personally think Instagram's featured comments are based on relevancy determined by:

- Whether or not the account you're commenting on follows your account
- How many of your followers are following the account you're commenting on
- A number of likes your comment gets
- Your follower count

Keep in mind these are my suspicions. The first point is the only one I'm pretty sure of.

Bumping this, bobbu gave a solid response but am still curious if anyone is informed about this

Really interested, I think that if the commenter is verified too the chances are really higher.

I think the number of followers is crucial. Also, if the OP likes your comment, it stands out.

I've been paying close attention to this for awhile and from what I've observed I believe its a mix between a few factors:

Whether someone you follow has commented on the post -

I believe this is the first and most important parameter IG checks to see which comment to feature. It prioritizes people you follow, which makes sense to me because it encourages a sense of familiarity - "wow my friend commented on this, what did they say? What are others saying?", etc. If no one you follow has commented on a post, then the algorithm falls to one of these below:

Verified profile -
Assuming a verified user has commented, it shows you the biggest/most popular verified user's comment

Comment Likes -
Sometimes it will also show the comment with the most likes as the featured comment. In my observations, the amount of likes on the comment has to be significantly larger than any other comments. This is also assuming you are not following anyone who has commented on this post. To me, this is IG's way of saying "hey look at this popular person, they are saying something alot of people like!" - usually it will be a funny joke or something related to the post

Comment Replies -
In some cases, the comment with the most replies will be the featured comment. It will also have a significant amount of comment likes. To me, this is IG's way of identifying something that may be controversial in the comment section and this is to encourage you to join in on the conversation and add your own reply.

Keep in mind, these are just my observations. I'm also sure, there are cases where different users will see a different featured comment. I'd love to hear what others think.

What you mean with featured comments?

Do you mean the top comments in the comment section (with the most likes) or the ones, under the huge Social Media accounts, which are way up?
