How can I view ads for an Instagram account from the profile?

Hi, I'm doing market research on OFM. I've noticed that some new accounts quickly reach millions of organic views after using ads at launch. So, I'm looking to analyze the ads these accounts ran at the beginning.

My goal is to see an Instagram account's ad history from its profile.

I tested the Meta Ad Library, but it doesn't show anything, even for accounts that clearly run ads (including accounts I manage myself).

Meta Ad Library only shows currently active ads, so if the campaign was paused or finished, it disappears. That’s why you often see nothing even if the account used ads earlier.

It also doesn’t show performance data, targeting, or historical campaigns, so you can’t fully reconstruct how an account scaled.

Workarounds people use:

• Track ads while they’re active in the Ad Library.
• Use third-party ad spy tools that continuously scrape and archive ads.

There’s no public way to see a full Instagram ad history from a profile. The Ad Library is limited to transparency, not competitive intelligence.

You probably need a meta rep that can look into there meta ad accounts, otherwise Ive never heard of this issue happening before

Ads are not necessary if your content is good. I have noticed that if you rely only on paid promos to push your account - IG won't give you any organic reach. Or this is just a wake-up call for you to pay attention to quality of the content so its viral, trendy, and has good retention for high conversions.

If you didn’t catch the campaign early, there’s basically no way to go back and see it later.

From what I know, Instagram ad history isn’t fully accessible publicly. The Meta Ad Library mainly shows active ads, and there’s no detailed performance data available. Most tools rely on the same limited data, so tracking ads in real time and saving creatives early is usually the most practical approach.
