Hello everyone

first of all, I'm actually very honored to write this thread and put my question here in front of the IM elites, truly this forum never ceases to amaze since 2011 when I first found it :)

So, I saw someone offering his website for sale and after scoping over it's analytics, I've found that the website makes thousands of dollars monthly selling products (with high demand) that the owner buys and ships from my country and sell to western counties.

I realized after browsing the products that I can get the exact same products and more here in my country for a cheap price, So I thought why not do the same thing and sell them offshore.

So, what do you guys think? should I create an online store offering those products (in retail or wholesale price since that I can buy them directly from the manufacturer) and then sell them to my target audience online? although it will be hard for me concerning my lack of expertise in marketing.

or should I collaborate with a dropshipper who will handle the Marketing and sales and I supply the products and ship them either to him/her in wholesale or to each of his/her costumers directly?

I think you can join in our business.

We are from Atomy. A e'Korea biz that have everything setup for you from front end to back end. Best of all is $0 startup cost and the products are low costs.

We do dropshipping to our customers.
 
The key to your success will be marketing in the country you are looking to sell in.

If you can reverse enginner how the site is marketing and can fund it, yes you have a business you can do well in.

If you cannot fund the marketing you will need to work with someone who can.

At this time, I can't fund the marketing, but willing to collaborate with someone to takes this business up, May I ask what do you think is the idead partner for this project?
 
So since 2011 you registered just in 2020?

You need to reverse engineer how the site is getting its traffic, if you could check the analytics, as you said, you will be able to work that out.

Then explain how that is done and find a partner who can generate traffic the same way and comes from the country you are looking to target to sell to. However they could sell in other countries as well, so maybe several partners.

I am guessing from another post you made they are craft goods. You will have to disclose your country. There can be import issues depending where products come from and where they are being sold. If so you need someone to sort that as well.

To do that here you need to set up a joint venture. But you have not been a member here long enough to do that. So you will have to wait.

Alternatively set up your own etsy account and sell direct from there, if they are indeed craft goods.

I am from Singapore. We have global business around. And we are not scamming. Its up to one individual to decide whether our business model works for you. Sorry juz wanted to share with you our idea and not to sell / scam you any products. I'm not earning anyhing from this. Just wanted to let like-minded individuals to know. I have been here in 2011 but I had to put the whole online money making pursuit in hold because I went to college., but I was a member here with and old account that I couldn't remember it So, I created this one.

And I think that I want to focus and try to expand this business, as GringoMonkey said maybe find someone who is experienced to collaborate with.

First of all thank you for your advices, I really appreciate them, I would do as you said, although the website gets traffic from paid advertisment using mainly social media ads, and yes they are craft goods, handmade leather bags, wallets, rugs....which I can get in a reasonable price.

since, I can't start a JV yet, I guess I'll try to find a partner elsewhere for now, someone who can handle marketing or a doppshiper who have his own store and I can be his/her supplier.
 
I am assuming you are looking to target tier 1 countries, so usa, uk, eu, canada etc

Just be mindful of corona virus... starting dropshipping there now is going to have delivery issues, which will kill your business before it starts.

You might be better waiting, increasing your post count and doing a jv in a month or so when things hopefully start to calm down.

You can start a JV but only with a junior VIP.

Either way, if you know the product sells and you can get it cheaper then you should be looking at how you can bring your own product to market but advertise it bigger and better.

Now I'm just analyzing the idea, trying to gather all the information needed, but I'm aiming like you said for the period after the Coronavirus, By God's well :)

Where are you from? And how big(size) is that product? What is the wholesale cost? And for how much is the guy selling it?
