Hosting recommendation for rapidly growing community site (wordpress): cloud / vps / dedi?

Hello,

hosting, servers, ip addresses...I find it all rather confusing (& often conflicting info out there!).

I guess my primary concern is that the site grows rapidly & outgrows its resources resulting in downtime for upgrades.

My understanding is that I need "cloud" hosting & I've been looking at these guys: http://www.tmdhosting.com/cloud-hosting.html (also because they market themselves as "buddypress specialists").

Would appreciate any advice in this area; general advice or specific providers (must be quality....ideally UK based as 99% traffic is UK).

if you want fast access all over the world you maybe should check out the CDN offer of VPS.net (Akamai) which is one of the biggest networks

we are on the rackspace cloud.. and we love it! check it out!

We used AWS before but there support is non existant so I wont recommend it if you are not really really good with servers.... rackspace is a lot easier to setup and the support is pretty decent for the price!

cheers Rony; yep...dealing with servers does not appeal to me lol so will need something fairly simple and/or managed; will check it out!
