Hostgator is terrible. Can anyone recommend a good web host?

HG is generally fine for hosting most sites you don't expect to go viral. I would go with Media Temple for something more traffic heavy though, they are very reliable although it's going to cost you more than a baby plan from HG ;)

Do not go with ipage if you plan on using Wordpress. Wordpress was slow for me there. That is why i switched to HG
 
It's simple. You get what you pay for. If you don't want problems, and you take your business seriously, stop using these glorified reseller hosting companies, and get a real server from Rackspace or LiquidWeb.
 
This is why I dont use unlimited hosting. Try downtownhost.com, mddhosting.com, stablehost.com, hawkhost.com or crocweb. I have shared accts at all of these and never have any issues.
 
A lot of people says that Hostgator loads their servers over the limit and that's the reason you will see majority of bad reviews about Hostgator's server performances. However, I really don't believe that any company can do such things intentionally.
@BlackHades, I am not trying to prove Hostgator a good or bad provider, its just that being a service provider I know what it takes to earn customers and build a long-term relationship with them. Its service providers duty as well to find out the issues and fix them asap to maintain the relationship. Over the years, the most common people have been making is giving priority to cost over the uptime and support factors. This is the mistake they realizes after several months or years, when the time has gone.
 
i know about a service that makes good hosting.... s e r v i n i o . c o m it's really good and cheap also so damn funny.
 
My experience with hostgator so far has been good.. how about you try hostmonster? they always have discount coupon codes which will save you lots of cash. A friend once recomended godaddy, but i have never used it before! Will post here of any new developments with hostgator!

Servinio and Hostwinds have never given me any problems for the 6 months that I have been with them. Their prices are far better than hostgator as well.

I had no problems with Justhost, it just worked and the tech support was good.

The billing in AWS is a mess, I still get small charges for an account I closed ages ago, have to call them every time to fix it

hostmartin This is a great hosting site that I own for a about a year now. We are going very strong and love to help with your hosting needs.
 
Arvixe is one very underrated Host-Company. Never experienced any problems with them and their support is fast and helpful.
For all "questionable" things, I can recommend CCI-Hosting. Its an offshore Host based in Panama, online for over 10 years. Their T&Cs forbid a lot of things, but that is just to cover their own asses. They really don't give a f... what you are doing.
